POLL: Party or Vacation?

My family really wants to do something for me for my college graduation, since it's been such a hard bunch of years, and since I didn't have an e-party, a sweet 16 or a HS grad party, it was always said I'd have a college grad party. Now that we're back to a 2007? wedding, it's not like it's piggybacking a wedding or showers or bach parties.

So the two ideas are

1) Have a party with family and friends...I havent made the list, but it would probably be about 60 people...dinner at a nice restaraunt.

or

2) My family(me, FH, Mom, Sis, BIL) would go to Disney for a long weekend or a week. My aunt and cousins (who we havent seen in a few years) are going in June, so we would meet up with them hopefully. Out of everyone going, FH and I are the only ones who have ever been to WDW, so it should be exciting.

Another thing, is that if I say I want the party, it'll most likely happen, but the vacation will be harder to plan. The vacation may wind up being cheaper because between FH and my BIL we have a LOT of FF miles, and if we went, FH and I would get Annual Passes and use our discount for the rooms for everyone.

Which would you rather do? Celebrate with extended family, or go on a vacation w/ immediate family?

Or maybe I should hve the party, get gifts, and use that money to go to disney after.. JK!

ETA I have no idea where anyone's getting the $$ for this, so neither may actually happen. But I'm really torn, if we can do one, which one to do!

Re: POLL: Party or Vacation?

I voted for Disney since I've had a couple of family renunions there and they are always a blast!!
Just a suggestion. Every other year we try to have a family reunion at disney. We've found it much cheaper to rent a vacation home than staying at disney since there's so many of us. With a little bit of research, we were able to find a 6 bedroom house complete with heated pool and all the amenities for $1000. All the adults end up paying $100 each to stay in a ginormous house for a week. At disney, you'd end up paying $100 a night. If you'd like more info, fm me.

Be careful relying on the AP discount for rooms - they've changed the process significantly (unless they changed it back).

I haven't looked into it in awhile. I don't know what the new system is. I guess I'll have to check it out. The last time I looked into it was when i was planning a trip for last may which I cancelled. i think that was just before all the changes.

This is a tough one.....I can see pluses to both sides. I would probably choose the party though since Disney you can go to anytime. (pretty much)

Re: POLL: Party or Vacation?

I'm for a party, but I am not a big fan of travelling with groups of people. I get aggrevated with all the scheduling and trying to get too many people ready for meals and such.

I vote for Disney. To me, a party lasts a couple of hours, the vacation lasts a couple of days.
When you do get married, thats another big party with your extended family.
