Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Probably not.
Our options are we'll either expand on it or most likely move into a bigger house in a few years. We bought a decent sized move in condition house in a great area with most of the features we wanted so we weren't restricted to the idea of just a starter home. However, as our family grows I am sure we will too outgrow the space.

No but at least until 2037!!
just curious, why 2037?
Thats when the mortgage will be paid off!
As for us, we just bought and are doing so much work I can't imagine having to do it all over again. The house is not as big as I would imagine a "forever" house to be, but it does have a lot of room to expand. I don't know what the future will bring, so it is hard to say what I plan to do in the next 5 or so years.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We'll move eventually. This house is great for us now (it's just the two of us) and very condusive for a baby since there's a bedroom RIGHT off the master, but it's not so great for much past that, IMO. I want a house with a Formal DR and foyer entry (among other things) one day.

I am not sure. We really have to see when we have kids and how the schools are or start to get.....but right now we think we might move in a few years but who knows!

No, we are in a 2 bedroom co-op so we plan on buying our hopefully forever home in a few years (most likely a house in the burbs though we have not ruled out an apartment in Manhattan).

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We were just talking about this last night. Our neighborhood right now is at a turning point. It's very small and old fashioned and they are supposedly rebuillding the main st. area. However, all we see coming in are 99 cent stores, liquor stores etc and we are not liking what we are seeing. With that said, we decided that if we don't see an improvement by the time our kids are ready for kindergarten, then we are moving. Plus, we only have 1 bath and do need a 2nd, and there are somethings about our house that we wish we had different...so, next time around we know more of what exactly we are looking for.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
This is our forever home. DH and I are older, and wanted to find a home in a community where we would raise our family. We have a fairly large home 3500+sq ft, 4 bedrooms 3 1/2 baths, finished basement... pleanty of living space. We have no intention of moving.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Ive only been in my house 3 months and i already feel like moving. Its a little small and needs alot of work. maybe when we finish the basment I will be more satisfied but as of today- I would move again very soon if I could and it wasnt too much hassle.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
According to my DH YES!
We aren't even in the house yet. He's doing LOTS of work to it so he says this is it he is never doing this again .
The way we bought it, no we wouldn't have stayed but now DH is adding a 1/2 bath and added a DR. We have a EIK, finished basement and 2 car garage in a very good SD and neighborhood. It only has 3 br (would have liked 4 for guests) but only plan on 2 kids so it's enough. It's a cape so if we ever needed to we could go up and we could even go out on the side so I'd say we are here for good.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
Yes! When we saw our house for the first time we both saw our children (whoever they are) growing up here, and us growing old in here together.
This house has a warm feel to it that I never experienced in any other home. We're only the 3rd owners of it, previous owners lived here for years & raised her children & grandchildren here.

When we do buy a house, it will be THE house. We will not be buying a starter.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We just moved into our home 2 weeks ago, but I can definitely see it being our forever house. Moving is way too much of a PITA to do it again in 5 years!! But, also, I love the house and we bought in a great area with plans of our kids going all the way through school here. We would eventually like to put on an extension and thankfully, we have the room to do it.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We're here until retirement. I love my house and it is paid for and I am not into moving. I have a old victorian that we redid. We will move when we get to old to climb all the stairs.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I am not sure. We both get attached to places. When I think of all we did to make ths house feel like ours and no one else's, I feel like we can never move. I would like one more bedroom, but everything else here is wonderful.

we bought a house big enough to stay in forever. But we will probably upgrade in 5-10 years to the forever house. I want that center hall colonial!

Hmmmm.... yea I think maybe so. We oove our house and our neighborhood. I think I would be fine with this being our forever home. We can expand if we chose to.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
We bought a house that has everything we wanted (downside -- we had to go out of state to get it). It's a big house with plenty of room for kids and almost 3 acres of property. We are planning to stay here for a long, long time.

Our house is definitely big enough that we can stay here forever. As of now we plan on staying here but who knows what the future holds for us.

Re: Are you planning to stay in your current house forever?
I want to move as soon as my DH says yes! Since the change in the housing market and the fact we have only been in our house since Sept 2005..I guess we will be here for a while!
