Kinda off topic but I was watching a show on ESPN about racism in soccer and it was pretty sad all the bad things that go on because the color of their skin.
I've never really noticed racism in soccer because of skin color,in my country we gives props to any great player. Doesn't matter if he's black, white or purple. I hate the violence in soccer I would love to go to live games but I think its not safe for women(men either but...) Too many countries hating on others.
thats what I dont like, people take the sport to extremes sometimes to some it becomes obsession...

Mine too. He wears his soccer jerseys when he's watching the game & gets all annoyed and whines like a baby during a game.

But in all seriousness, yes some people just go too extreme with it. If Ecuador wins, great, If they dont, then they dont .Better luck next time.

DH has all his England tops ready to go! Same here...it will be quiet for a while then there will be a goal or penalty...and you'll hear "OOOOOHHHHHHH!!!" or, "BLOODY REF!" It is very funny to watch him.

I'm excited!!
I'm all about Argentina and Italy!!
DH gets mad because sometimes I'll root for the underdog since the usual winners are Italy, Brazil, & France a few years back. DH was hurting that time France beat Brazil.
I was when France beat Brazil... that's one I won't root for!! So sick of them always winning.

They are awesome at the game. I usually just cheer for the hottest team.

Re: Anyone excited about World Cup?
No drama intended but, its amazing how World Cup is just bypassed by most Americans in general. Its the one oppertunity to join in with the rest of the world (there is NOT a country not into it) but we (and I say we because I am American too) choose to ignore the whole hype. I think it sadly adds to the negative world view of the US.

I think it's because it's not the national sport. People didn't grow up watching & loving soccer like many other countries do. I think this is a big reason as to why.

it would get quite boring if the same teams won all the time... thats why teams like Cameroon were so great to watch in 1990, noone expected them to do so well...

I'm hoping to watch and will probably support England. My boss is being brought by private jet by a firm we use in the UK to the England v. Sweden match in Cologne. I'm jealous but he deserves it

True. I went to my first pro game before I even went to school. But look at the Japaneese.. they hosted last time. If they can get into it,why not us here? I strongly doubt soccer was their nations sport

well it was awesome when the US hosted back in 94. So many people supported the games, and then we started w/ state teams. Then the women's teamcame into play and it was such a BIG step for women & the U.S. IMO

but the same argument can be made for hockey, why is hockey not so popular as other sports in the United States... it is fast paced, exciting and yet a lot of people like to watch baseball instead of hockey (no idea why? )

100% true. Then it died down Do you think its a sport where the mens team doesn't really excel at,so thats why the US isn't so supportive? Really no drama girls, just a discussion I've had with many friends in recent days.

Re: Anyone excited about World Cup?
it was awesome, it was the last time my team has been in a world cup.
now they literally s uck.
sadly, they work great as individual players but they leave a lot to be desired as a team.
