With all the recent celebrity preggos, I can't help but wonder...
Is having a baby just "fashionable" in Hollywood now, or are more famous women saying "to hell with movie producers and execs., I'm doing what I want with my body!" ????? I just wonder which one it is sometimes.

I think they are saying "to hell with movie producers and execs., I'm doing what I want with my body!" Partly because a lot of actresses have had children and can go back to work and get decent movie roles. I think Hollywood's attitude about motherhood has changed.

With all my TV watching this weekend, I caught Dolly Parton, THS. She was in her late 30's and said she had missed that time in her life to have babies.
I tend to think Hollywood is just more accepting now of babies on sets or covering up a belly.

What made me think of it was the Mandy Moore thing, although, I caught an episode of the Barkers yesterday where the wife, don't know her name, was asking the nanny if the she slept at all the night before. THe nanny said no, the baby was up all night. And then, stupid, naive me realized, DUH! These people don't care for their own children, so why not have a baby? I mean, I'm sure there's some celebs who do, but I'm sure a majority of them have a nanny to wake up in the middle of the night. I found that disturbing.

I thought that part of the Barkers was outrageous!! It made me laugh out loud. Shana looked so tired and beat, comes downstairs and asked if the baby slept well In all honesty though, 2 doctors live next door to me and their baby nurse is always there.

Re: With all the recent celebrity preggos, I can't help but wonder...
I'm sure it's not just celebs who have someone else care for their children, but that just rubbed me the wrong way when she asked the nanny that. I mean, I was a nanny for years....during the day. I can see having a nanny that takes care of the kids during the day, but to wake up and feed your child at night, I just can't understand that. I guess I'm just not used to it. But that also steers away from the original topic, so I think I just hijacked my own thread

Re: With all the recent celebrity preggos, I can't help but wonder...
***continue to hijack, sorry********
I was a nanny to back in the day, this family would bring me everywhere. What was so weird to be was that we would stay at Disney, and I would take the girls to the parks. The parents had no interest in seeing the girls on Dumbo or meeting Cinderella. Thought it was so weird.
We would also go to the movies, the parents in one theatre, me and the kids in another.
I watched them all day Mon-Friday, but a lot of the time they would pay me extra on the weekends to stick around and play with them in the pool.
10 years later, parents are divorced, but girls are doing fine, love both their parents...I thought they would grow up so disconnected, but not the case at all.

I really don't think being PG is "in" for celebs...
I think that if you look at it as a whole...yes some are marrying younger than expected but this isn't all that new in Hollywood....Nor is multiple marriages....
I think we are noticing it more because our society is sooo obsessed with them

I also thought it was funny when they were trying to sell her a breast pump, she ran away so quick as though they were selling her crack. I know it is not for everyone, but the way she ran was so funny

Re: With all the recent celebrity preggos, I can't help but wonder...
I think it runs the gamut and while I don't see anyone subjecting themselves to a pregnancy just to be "fashionable" I think there are some celebs who aren't thinking about the true responsibilities of motherhood (yes, Britney, I am talking to you).
But I think there are actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Garner (yep, I admit to being a fan of Fishstick ) who accepted that they're now in their 30s, they've been successful for the most part and it's time to take on motherhood. I don't see anything negative in that. Many new celeb moms and moms to be (like Gwen Stefani) are a little older and may be feeling that "clock" which I know I can relate to.

I don't know if i wuld say that these people don't care for their children....
I think the money that they have allows them to afford things..luxuries. And i don't think that is a bad thing but i think having money does making caring for children easier....
If i had $$$$ i would have a nanny too....i see nothing wrong with that.

Not care as in love their children, but care for as in providing a midnight feeding themselves. I just don't think that I would have someone else feeding my newborn in the middle of the night, no matter how much money I had. But that's just me.

To be honest i don't know what i would do as far as midnight feedings are concerned. But the idea is tempting

I want to think that they realized there's more to live, like having a family and unconditional love... but sadly, it seems like having kids is the "in" thing to do.. (ie, Britney Spears.... )

Me too. I think there was a time where many actresses had to forgo having children for a career and ended up regretting it. I think now they see that you can have a baby & still have a career.

Shanna seems to be THE laziest person i have ever seen. I know a lot of editing goes on in TV but all the girl does is lay in bed and have other people take care of her kids! Remember the Christmas episode last year when Travis and her parents opened presents with the kids because she was sleeping late...who does that!!!
