We will hopefully have children one of these days and we cannot agree on girl names...So, what are your favorite Italian, Irish, and non-ethnic girl names? edited
Our last name is VERY Italian! TIA!
We decided to come up with three categories of names:
Italian Irish (Celtic spellings included) Non-ethnic (ie...Jennifer)
He prefers Italian names like Carmela, Francesca, etc....
I'm not crazy about those names. I prefer tradtional names like ELizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, etc....
I mean my name is Stacey (so, 1970s) and DH is Christopher and he comes off with Carmela! It cracks me up!

My daughter's name is Ava. I think it's pretty simple. Goes with a lot. I used my maiden name as her middle name, then we have a very Irish last name.

Re: We will hopefully have children one of these days and we cannot agree on girl names...So, what is your favorite Italian, Irish, non-descript girl names?
I'm confused... real Irish (Gaelic) and real Italian first names aren't very non-descript.
I guess you mean Anglo versions of the names...
If you stick with names of saints, those are the traditional Irish or Italian names...
Theresa Mary Anna Katherine Margaret Colleen
A lot of the current popular names ending in "ee" sounds are not necessarily Irish in origin. I can't speak much about Italian names as I'm not as familiar.

Katherine is my favorite. I think we'd then use Kate or Katie as a nickname.

I love the Name Pauline or Paulina.
That was my cat's name and if we have a baby girl, I want to name her Pauline. DH refuses to name our child after a pet. But, I loved my sweet Paulina! LOL

Re: We will hopefully have children one of these days and we cannot agree on girl names...So, what are your favorite Italian, Irish, and non-ethnic girl names? edited
I had the same problem. I wanted something to balance the last name, he wanted something that reeked guidette.
If Jospeh was a girl, he was going to be Catherine Grace. He wanted Cassandra, but I didn't want it shortened to sandra. I wanted Catherine shortened to Cate or Catie. He wanted Cassie.
For the second time, the way I handled it was to go through the baby book & make a list of names I liked. I gave him choices of those (Madeline or Charlotte). He still picked the option I wouldn't have but eventually the name refers to your child and I learned to love it anyway.

Boys are easy....
James Charles Charles Louis James Patrick Charles Salvatore
Since we are doing IVF, it is highly likely that we could have multiples...but boys names are easy....
I met a little boy today and his name is Gavin! I so loved it!
Siobhan is one of my favorites, along with Fiona, Catherine, Kathleen, Maeve....we just can't seem to agree on a girl's name....

I hope to use my favorite Italian name if we have a girl- Elena. It's pronounced "el-en-uh" not "el-ay-nah". But your welcome to "steal" it if you like it. It's the Italian version of Ellen.
(I would like to use an Italian name since I am Italian and my married name is Irish. My mother's name is Ellen, my middle name is Ellyn and my grandmother's name is Helen. And I also thought it would be neat to continue the tradition and use a form of the name also.)
Other Italian names:
Cinzia (Chinzia) Christina
Good luck in your search.
