Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
My friend was engaged to someone who told her AFTER they were engaged that he NEEDED (not wanted) to have an open marriage because he would get violent feelings during sex, so he urged her to have sex with his best friend instead. Needless to say, she broke off the engagement and is now living with the best friend. To each their own!

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
DH and I know at least 30 people off the top of my head that are married swingers. They are not trying to convert anyone. Only twice has DH and I been asked, we said no and that was it. I had 8 of them at my wedding. I don't agree with it and it is not for me, but they are adults and nice people.

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
A couple we know are swingers. They bring other women into the relationship. They have asked me and I have politely said , no thanks! They are a very nice couple with 5 kids The wife generally initiates the asking of the other women. Hey, each to their own, right? If they are OK with it who am I to judge? It is definitely not something I am into!!

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
The one couple I did know that had an *open* marriage is now divorced. He wanted to be monogamous after a while & she was not interested.

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
No, I don't know any but I wouldn't judge either.
I couldn't do it though and because of that I don't know if a friendship with a couple with an open marriage would last with me & DH. I know they wouldn't try to convert anyone but I would imagine it would bring a new element to the friendship and I don't know if it's one I'd like.

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
I wouldnt really care if a friend of mine had an open marriage or not but IMO that phrase is an oxymoron...

Why bother getting married then?? JMO. Marriage is about commitment, or at least the last time I checked it was. I don't see why people have to get married if they are going to live like that.

I agree 100% Why get married if you are going to have a "open" marriage...the point of being married is for the commitment part If I found out one of my friends had a "open" marriage I would still be friends with them that is their own thing...but I would also let them know if you are having problems because of this I would not want to know ANYTHING...IMO they are adding problems to a marriage already

I don't know anyone in an open marriage - so I dont really know how I would react to that. I wouldn't want to partake in that lifestyle.

I agree. I suspected someone once of being a "swinger", but I guess couples "swing" together while in an open marriage each goes their own way.

In addition: If you found out that a relative, or your friendly neighbors, or a co-worker that you respected had an open marriage, would it change your relationship with them? Would you cut them off or begin to keep your distance?
I dont know anyone, and NO , it would never change myopinion of them. I am the most liberal person I know. I try never to judge people...their relaity may just be a different reality then mine, doesnt mean its wrong. Right or wrong is created by US , not society, so I try to respect peoples choices. If it were something that made me uncomfortable..which this doesnt..I would simple make my feelings known and not interact with someone in that type of setting where the lifestyle became as issue...ot I might not be friends with them, but my intial views would never change.

Re: Do you know anyone with an open marriage?
I know a few coiples in "opne marriages" I think it's another word for "mutua infidelity" in their cases. Rather than dealing with the real issues they call it that.
