what? i always thought they were rolley poleys.. now here people call these huge locust, junebug, cockroaches with wings things waterbugs
OMG I hate them I see some at night in the basement ..SCARES the be jesus out of me .

 is what I think of.
Actually I think of earwigs. I always thought they were water bugs.
They're all gross anyway.

I always called the "pill bugs" waterbugs ....
And called those big gigantic black bugs that come out in the summer "June Bugs."
I think june bugs and "waterbug" roaches -- the ones that you see in NYC are different -- because at the end of the school year I saw the NYC roach one outside of my school and it was a brown color while the June bugs I've always seen are black.

To me, a waterbug is a giant, "crunchy" bug, as in it makes a loud "CRUNCH" when you kill it. There was one in the bathroom at work last year, on an air freshner can, and I swear it was about half the size of the can! More of a small animal than a large insect!!
I call the pill bugs "potato bugs" also. I used to like playing with them as a kid and making them roll up!

too me too- they lady across the hall told me she had them
I saw 1 bug in my apartment- and I don't know if it was one of these or a roach- either way I was freaked out

a waterbug in the country = those bugs that can walk on water
a water bug in the city = oversized roach- these live in the water ducts- come out of shower, plumbing, etc.

I think "BS" because we see these occasionally and DH calls them waterbugs. I tell him "BS - they are ROACHES!"
