When my mom does something half-azzed, she says that she did it "With a lick and a promise". I have never heard anybody else EVER use this phrase and it drives me nuts, because I can't make any sense of it. She says it all the time.

"To tell you the truth" my old boss use to hate it also when people would say that and then his answer would be "no lie to me" . THe funny thing is when he would talk to people he would always say either "in all fairness" or "in all honesty"  Isn't that the same thing as to tell you the truth.

Well, it's not really a phrase but it drives DH crazy when people suck their teeth! He gets so mad!
I hate that saying "it is what it is". It's like saying "sorry, this sucks, but there's nothing I can do or you can do to make it better".
