I want to add one more thing here... this is a pet peeve of mine and I have seen it happen with other products.
when a company switches their manufacturing to China, what else can be expected? how can you compare Italian hand made with Chinese mass produced? 
when I asked a sales person at Coach why their bags are now made in China and yet they still cost as much or more as when they were handmade in Italy her response was "we're expanding our markets"
Im shocked she was so quick with that answer!
I still remember my shock when I was admiring a $300 bag and when I looked inside I could NOT believe I saw "Made in China"

Coach used to be made in USA and now I see made in Mexico on some of the leather bags and the fabric bags are made in China.
Sad thing is that a friend who is an MBA student said it has to do with the fact that Coach couldn''t grow sales anymore because the quality was so good and so they started making some cheaper products so that people would buy more.
I guess from a sales perspective it makes sense but from a customer service point it is stupid.
I am so glad to hear that so many of you think that Coach's policy is crazy.

That's very strange. I sent back a handbag. Even though they would not fix it, they sent a very nice letter with a coupon for 40% off my next purchase.

Thanks for posting this, I think I will spend my money on another brand!!!! that is insane they dont stand behind their product and what a shame b/c I am a big coach fan or should I say was.
edited to say how embarrassing if one of my bridesmaids wristlet that I bought 6 of them broke or faded and coach doesnt stand behind their product to help them! A little disturbing when at least on Long Island that is a big bridal party gift giver!!!!
So true that Coach wristlets are a hot bridesmaid gift on Long Island. The ladies on this site have given them so much money, they should think about keeping them as customers.
