Maybe I will mention it on Friday that they should do your hair free next time
Great idea. So I'll mention it on Monday. Do they know you just as Beth?
yes- that would be so sweet of you!

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Official Thread
I used the CHI transformation system for highlighted hair. I highlight with bleach.
Here are my before and after
This was taken just this weekend after one month, I got my hair JS on 5/28 and then I got it rehighlighted on 6/9
Mine isn't as super pin straight it still has some body because I went parasailing a few days after getting it done and had it up on the boat etc. But most of my curl was underneath and that is pin straight and no frizz when I airdry after swimming with my son.

Beth - when you go back to touch it up - do they just do the roots or your whole head again?
Hope Beth doesn't mind me answering...
When you go back, they do the whole process over again from start to finish. It's not so much a "touch up" more as of a "another time" type of thing.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Official Thread
I got mine done in May. At first I honestly wasnt sure if I liked it or not. Now I love it and it is easy to maintain. Saves me so much time being able to just wash and go. DH loves it and whenever someone asks me how long it lasts, I say about a year, and he answers then she will get it done again.

Oh really? And you haven't noticed any damage because the redo your whole head? Does it take less time because they leave the chemicals on for less time?
Thanks for answering, btw.

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Official Thread
I think I'm the only one who has done it that in the end had a really bad experience.
I had so much breakage the last time I did it (Feb 2005) that I actually lost a lot of hair in the front of my head and in the inside (thank goodness I have really thick hair so you really couldn't tell by looking at the back). I only now have my hair back to a normal length after having it be choppy due to the breakage and had to cut it little by little until it looked somewhat normal again.
I'm assuming it was the salon, and not my hair, since I had had it done twice before this time and it was great, but not perfect like I've seen on this thread (even now I'm more convinced it was the girl in the salon that truly messup up my hair). I was also was getting marrried in a few weeks so I also had the stress factor going on.
I would love it if I could do it again, but I'm afraid of what can happen. I'm a true curly haired girl who spends at least 45 minutes with my "blower and a prayer" and even at that, unless I get it professionally blown out, it comes out frizzy.
I have had to use the chemical straightners for "ethnic" hair to get my frizz free results, but I've let that go since January so that I can grow it out all over again, and maybe, just maybe give JS another try.
ahhhh.....sorry if so long, but I would be lying if I wasn't sitting here reading everone's post and being envious of all of the success stories!!

I have a feeling we have the same type of hair, and seeing your results might make me think twice about doing it. Then again, you DID say that it worked out fine the 1st time... and oh man, I'm SOOO sorry you had to deal with that during your wedding.

I just called Top Point. I'm in desperate need of color & am going on Thursday. She said I should wait 2 weeks from when I last got color. So I'll be sporting a lion's mane for the next 2 weeks.

Re: Japanese Hair Straightening Official Thread
not every hair stylist can do this- they are suppose to take a class- many don't and just buy the products- you need to be very carful
certain relaxers with Lye - don't mix well with these products- and it should never touch the root- if it touches the root- that will cause your hair to fall out
if you are going to go someplace - make sure you know someone else who had it done there

I saw someone getting a touch up while I was there. They put the chemical on the roots first, left it one for a few minutes, then applied it to the rest of the head. So they did the whole head over, but the chemical was on the roots longer than it was on the already done hair.

not at anywhere near the top point price- the cheapest I ever paid on LI was $500
and it didn't come out any where near as good
