Re: POLL: If they were about the same price, would you rather buy...
When I say "GREAT" area and "ok" area I am mostly basing that on the schools, not how close it is to our jobs or the beach, etc.
Kissy The length of time we would stay would depend on which town we buy in. If we bought in the "ok" area, we would want to sell in 5-7 years when we have kids so they can go to a better public school. If we bought right away in the good school district, we would probably end up staying much longer since we would want our kids to go to school there.
5 of clubs I agree that there are a lot of "depends on" with this situation!!! I just wanted to get feedback in general. Forgot to mention the taxes in the GREAT area are more, but not much more.
RandJ0806 Thank you!! I am going to FM you later today.

Fixer upper in the better location.
Taxes are lower than a new construction house.
You can fix it up to exactly the way your want it. I've known several people that bought new construction and still wanted to change things. My SIL ripped out her kitchen within 5 years of moving in and put in better quality cabinets, appliances, etc.

Fixer upper in a great location.
I'm not a fan of "new construction" unless it's a completely custom home (and in a great area )
