Anyone else worried where their water will break?
I've been thinking about this lately, dunno why bc I'm only 30 weeks along... but I'm worried of ruining my mattress or carpet once my water breaks. It's obviously unpredictable, but will any of you prepare your home to 'waterproof' areas???

I am. I heard you can put this plastic sheet thing under your sheets so the "water" does not ruin your mattress. I will be picking that up this weekend.

I don't think they are that uncomfortable, I think I used to have them when I lived at home. And it will be only for a couple of weeks that you use it

Ugh, I really hope that I don't ruin something expensive!

Re: Anyone else worried where their water will break?
I am!! I don't know what to do about it. Also, since my sister lives closer to my hospital than I do, she wants me to come over when I am in labor. But I am so afraid of ruining her stuff. But what can you do.
The reality of the matter is that no one I know had their water break in a huge gush at first... it always started wtih a trickle. So I will just hope and pray that nothing goes terribly wrong and will offer to replace or clean whatever I ruin... if I ruin anything.

Suggestion: Wear a pad
From w hat I heard a pad won't begin to absorb the amount that might come out.
As for the original question....I hadn't even thought about it until this post...now I know I will be worried too.

Re: Anyone else worried where their water will break?
When it came close to my due date i started to cover everything. I had a garbage bag and towel in my car. I had the same thing lined under my bed sheets.

Re: Anyone else worried where their water will break?
I heard only 25% of pregnant woman have their water break and most of the time it starts as a trickle. I only know one person that had her water break with a gush and she was on the bowl going to the bathroom at the time.

I heard only 25% of pregnant woman have their water break and most of the time it starts as a trickle. I only know one person that had her water break with a gush and she was on the bowl going to the bathroom at the time. I heard that, too... so 18-25% actually get the whole Hollywood "my water broke"... cause that's what I'm actually picturing... like Niagra Falls..
Thanks for putting me at ease, though... It seems it's more likely for my water to break at the hospital than anywhere familiar.
Michele.... awwwwwww {LABOR DUST}

It is true to only a small percetnage of womens' water break. I had mine broken hours after I had gone into labor.

Same here. The doctor broke mine in the hospital.
I used to keep a towel in my car and one next to the bed. I think every woman must think about this!

The only place I worry about it breaking is in my car because it's still pretty new.
