Re: Grilled Cheese

Wow...mayo....that's a new one. I melt the butter first and then brush it on. I have no clue why, but it totally changes the taste Chat Icon

Re: Grilled Cheese

Oh no, now I'm scared. I had a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch today from Cheeburger Cheeburger (was someone watching me?) and I hate mayo.

I almost gagged when I read this thinking the sandwich I made had mayo on it.

Now I just have another food that I have to ask questions about - my husband is going to kill me!

Re: Grilled Cheese

I voted butter, but I am curious for the people who say mayo grosses them out.

If the sandwich was made with mayo, and you ate it and couldn't tell it was mayo, why would it bother you? I really am trying to understand that. I have a mayo hater in my family and I was talking about a cake made with mayo and was promptly told NEVER to bring that cake to his house Chat Icon But, if it's mixed in and doesn't have a mayonaise taste, why not eat it?

I don't think I like *hot* mayo. Like, I am used to butter because I cook everything in frying pans with butter. I like mayo in tuna fish, on a cold sandwich...

If I am getting a toasted sandwich I ask them to put the mayo on after they toast it.

I don't know why, but just the look of mayo makes me (where's the puke icon?) I think its the way it jiggles. LOL

ETA: I won't even wash a spoon, fork, knife that has mayo on it. It drives my husband nuts!

I use either olive oil from the Misto or the Puritan spray (like Pam), less fattening and tastes teh same to me.

in the past I've used butter or mayo, like them both. You only use a small amount of mayo and it disappears just like the butter does. you really can't tell the difference.

I'm like mayo in cold stuff like sandwiches and salads. The thought of eating it warm kind of turns my stomach, but I am going to try it anyway on a grilled cheese.

If it's mixed into something and I can't taste it, it's fine with me.

Never heard of doing it with mayo! And even though my initial reaction was "ewww," I'm going to try it.
