I feel the same way. I don't really think you can know someone through their posts on a BB. It's not enough information to really judge someone, plus I can't believe I actually can't think of anyone who I would say that about anyway. LOL

When I read this, the first person I thought of was Deb Maher. From my first reading of a post of hers, I thought she was way off. Other than that tho, I haven't come across anyone I would say is certifiable.

I actually looked DM up through search but I still have to say...Do you really think that nut is a norm to the rest of the posters? I think some people are very different then me and others are similar. Its a shame that a poster can make a bad impression on others. BTW ...glad I wasnt here for that...its a little CREEPY!

Ok I have to ask since I didn't read every post (over 6k??)... Most of her posts seem to be pretty normal. THere was something about her faking cancer (***?) and then she went missing. I tried to do a search on cancer + screenname... why would someone creat a fake name (outside of the obvious pregnancy & asking for advice posts)? Was she a vendor or something? That explains why everyone was so paranoid on the board.
eta. I voted yes since I think one or two posts seem to be EXTREMELY Passionate about certain subjects.

They are here, they exist.
I don't think she has had a bad impression of others....Like Don said, we all crazy in our own way...
There are just some that need some serious help. One i met, a manipulative pathological liar.
But these people are not obviously of the majority and thankful few and far between..

i disagree. people disclose so much about themselves on here, that you can totally tell if their elevator doesnt go all the way up to the penthouse.
And, i think there's more of a grounds for forming an opinion based on that, Over 'crazy' people that we encounter during the day for 2 minutes 
I think it's easier in person. I think if someone's truly crazy yoyu can tell in 2 minutes. Something about the way they speak or look will just be "off"

Yeah there's a lot less invested to lie online, you just ahve to type it. In person you have to really "act" and live up to it and worry about someone catching you, wheras if you really want to lie online, no one will know.

I cant even imagine meeting a total stranger that I thought was something that they werent. Ive never really met anyone online so maybe thats why it seems so crazy to me.

I met a person who, at the time seemed ok.
Yes there was something "off" and a few of us noticed but let it go
But it wasn't until later, MANY month later did i find out she made up LIES and told them to another poster here...

Ok...so it wasnt a complete random girl. It was someone a bunch of you knew that turned out to be a liar. I fear that if I met someone they would turn out to be a 50 yr old man with duct tape and an axe. I am so careful with who I pick and choose to speak with and yes I agree with most of the posters that some people are not who I would choose to surround myself with but I guess I am just being cautious. Though I think my workplace at times has more nuts then anyone on LIF... ; )

I haven't been on that long and really don't know too much about people. However, from reading some posts I do think that there are some people that need professional help. But, that's JMO and that's not worth a heck of a lot
