Saddest moment of your life
What has been the saddest moment of your life? Mine was when my mom called and told me that my grandma passed away. I was so close to her.

Re: Saddest moment of your life
Mine was when I was 16 and had to say goodbye to my Papa. We were visiting my grandparents at Christmas vacation and my Papa had been sick and in the hospital for months. We knew the end was near and that I would most likely never see him again. We were very close. He was not really conscious anymore and I stood there with tears running down my face, holding his hand and watching my Nana have an upbeat conversation with him, telling him I was there and stuff. My brother couldn't come say goodbye - he just couldn't handle it. That was the last time I saw him alive. He died less than a month later. It was probably the single worst moment of my life. OK - now I'm crying

Re: Saddest moment of your life
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make people sad. I have just been thinking about my grandma a lot recently. She passed away a year ago. The whole year was terrible, but lately I have been missing her worse than ever.

Re: Saddest moment of your life
Having to tell my husband on deployment that his best friend was killed in a car accident on monday morning and that I was miscarrying during a 15 minute phone call via a satellite phone that happens once a week if we are lucky oh and let me add the phone had an echo and a delay.

That's ok -- there are certain times of the year when things hit me much harder then others.
I am sorry about your grandma

For me no, it has lessened considerably but it still really hurts.

Re: Saddest moment of your life
Mine would be the phone I received when I found out my father passed away... Sad but true it was a phone call... Unfortunetly when my parents got divorced he felt he it was necessary to divorce his kids once he no longer had to leagally support them... I made several attempts to make him a part of my life reguardless of all the things he did to my mother but in the end it never happened.... I honestly always thought I would have read about his death in Newsday and I always thought I would never have cared but reality was I did... So for me getting that horrible phone call was my saddest moment....

Re: Saddest moment of your life
Watching my SIL trying to give birth to her son. We already knew he was unlikely to survive the delivery because of a heart condition, but she was hoping for a miracle so that she would be able to hold him even if it was just for a minute. After hours & hours of labor, they started to tell her she could rest for 10 minutes. I had gone out in the hall during her break. The doctor came out & said "Are you ok?" I broke down crying and said "You know if there's any chance Nicholas is still alive, if you tell her, she'll push him out with all of her might. But since you're giving her so much time to rest, I think he's gone and she's not pushing all the way because she's afraid of what she's going to find out." Then the doctor who had been with us all night started crying too. She said "Ok, we'll check her." They brought in 2 doctors to do the fetal echocardiogram.
To this day, I can hear her wails in my head when I think about this.
Second place would be 10 minutes after her c-section. I was asked to photograph him for her since she & her husband were never going to see him again. My BIL held him. I could barely see through the viewfinder through the tears.

Re: Saddest moment of your life
When my mom came in my room to wake me up to tell me my Aunt Carol died. I just layed there frozen for a while - it was a total shock... the doctor told her she had a UTI, but it was some sort of clotting disorder that if caught early, can be fixed, but they didn't catch it until she went to the emergency room 2 days later.
She was the most amazing woman in the world. She was someone that genuinly saw the best in everyone, the underdog always her favorite. She had been through so much, including an abusive marriage... She was taken too soon.
I still cry whenever I think about how she's gone.
I can't believe it will be 7 years on the 24th

Re: Saddest moment of your life
the saddest moment is when my grandma past away (mom's mom) she raised me since I was 7 days old.
the worst monent of my life is Sept. 11, 2001, when I thought the sky was falling but I refused to die.
