Mommies of Boys?

At what age did your DS get his first haircut. Alex is 7.5 months old and his hair is starting to get unruly. I don't think I am ready for him to get his hair cut, but I think it is time. How old was your son when he had his first cut?

Re: Mommies of Boys?

Ok.. most moms will probably think this is bad.. lol... My son didn't get hair until he was about 18 months old.. He looked like he was at least three but bald.. lol... His hair since we moved to Florida has become very long and it curls at the tips.. I love it.. and I know my MIL would have eaten him alive to see those curls.. and I can't bear to cut them off... Hes gonna be three in March.. this MONTH with the help of my DH and my dad.. lol.. we will be going for his first hair cut.. I will post pics.. cause he still really doesnt have a lot of hair.. but emotionally.. OMG.. (especially cause I am preggo) I have NO IDEA how I am gonna survive!!! LOL Chat Icon

Caiden didn't get his until he was over a year at least. My son wasn't born with a lot of hair, and also mommy wasn't ready for it yet! Chat Icon I did however just trim some of the hair that was in his eyes.

Alot of people believe that you should shave their heads when they are just a few weeks old so that their hair grows back in quicker and thicker. I know alot of people who have done this with both girls and boys.

I won't be doing that! Chat Icon

I might bring Aidan today or tomorrow if I get a chance. Wanted to bring daddy along but does't look like that will ever happen. He will be 18 months next week.

The back is getting so long now that the humidity is gone and he no longer has curls in the back Chat Icon so basically since I trimmed the bangs and the ears he is starting to look like he has a tail or a mullet and we will NOT have ANY of that! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Kevin does look like he needs one and he is 9 months old. At around 6 months we did trim his side burns - because they were very long and would curl in the humidity and he looks like a girl or a clown. We have done it a couple times since. We also snipped his bangs a bit ourselves (very slightly because they were getting in his eyes. I can't imagine him sitting for a hair cut right now at all. With the minor bang cut and the side burn trims, it is much better.

Andrew got his first haircut right after his first birthday. And now he gets them every 6 weeks. He is so good, and sits still for it! Thankfully!

Thanks for your responses. I still don't know what to do. He seems young for a cut but the top is so long, maybe I will trim it myself.

Re: Mommies of Boys?

Logan is 6 1/2 months and was born with a full head of hair. I was just considering this question myself because many people have commented on how he "needs a cut" also when we were out the other day two people referred to him as "she"!!!!
I wasn't sure if you should take them to salon or a barber shop..... Anyone have any suggestions?

John has so much hair that I gel it, slick it back and spray it, he needs a haircut NOW. I'm probably going to take him in the next 2 weeks, he will be 8 1/2 months
