Mommies of boys
How do you avoid being shot while changing them? I cover it with a paper towel but he loves to kick and it seems I'm always in the line of fire.

Re: Mommies of boys
I used to put a cloth diaper over it. Thankfully they arent so quick on the draw when they get a little older

Re: Mommies of boys
When he was little it was hit or miss...sometimes we got it - other times we were quick enough to cover it with the diaper cloth. Now that he's older I can see when it's coming so it's not too bad
I remember once when he was about 8 weeks old he peed as I was sticking the new diaper under him and it shot right into his face - mouth, eyes nose, everywhere! I was so mortified and he just laughed!!!

I go to baby massage on Mondays and all the babies pee everywhere! The first week Noah peed all over me and the lady next to me! oh how everyone laughed!

Re: Mommies of boys
When my son was a baby I tried having the new diaper open and ready before I changed him. Then when I was taking his old diaper off, I would cover him with the new diaper. Thank god we don't have this problem anymore now that he is older.

Re: Mommies of boys
Best thing I found was having a baby washcloth nearby. Its was cheap, reusible and soft & able to contour - enough that it didnt just fly off if he kicked. Then just throw them in the wash of course. I saw they sell something in the One Step Ahead catalog that looks like a mens athletic cup but I think the washcloth worked great. I'll use that same trick with this baby.

The exact same thing happened with my son. He ended up with a puddle on his face. I felt so bad for him.

Re: Mommies of boys
When he was little I used a damp paper towel because it's harder for them to kick off if it's moist plus it makes it heavier. It kind of hangs on better. Now I use a wipe or a wash cloth.

Re: Mommies of boys
I usually put a warm whipe over him...its the cold that makes him go...so the warm whipe give me enough time to clean him up without getting peed on....the one and only time he got me when was I didn't use the warm whipe.

Re: Mommies of boys
I have mastered changing his diaper VERY quickly to avoid getting sprayed. Luckily, it has never happened to me even when is naked for alittle longer. Only happens to DH when he changes him, which makes me laugh of course.

Re: Mommies of boys
Sorry to crash board. I don't have a baby, but I used to babysit and I have two younger brothers.
I used to quickly cover with the new diaper as I took the old one away. Never got peed on once.

The only problem I see with this solution is that the second they have a fresh diaper on, they've already peed in it.

Re: Mommies of boys
I know I'm going to jinx myself, but I haven't had this problem in a long time!
But when he was a tiny baby, I would immediately take out a wipe and place it over him. If there is ever another baby boy, I might try the washcloth, but the wipes were always there.
