Anxiety about changing body
Anybody esle suffering anxiety about your changing body? I know that my priority should not be on my weight but I can't help but feel helpless and lost everytime I realize there is NOTHING I can do to make the stomach flatter or make the waist smaller right now.
I was never thin before but I feel like I have no control anymore, no matter what I do.
Am I alone? I feel like a horrible vain mother-to-be who should concentrate on baby's health and not my figure.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
Considering I'm pg with twins, soon to be 36 and a size 10 to begin with
My stomach is going to be a train wreck when this is all done... guess the possibility of a late in life modeling career is really over
It's all good... I'll deal with it in time. I'm just so happy to be pg.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
Its definitely hard. I hate how I look in the mirror- I don't mind my belly but I HATE HATE my boobs- they hurt and they are huge and they make me look awful.
But, I try not to think about it because I love Matty so much, so it's worth it- but I don't like looking in the mirror.
I'm just trying to eat very healthy and hope that I won't gain too much...but, in the end, I just want Matty to be healthy (but I'm sercretly hoping my boobs go back to their original size too )

You are hysterical! And very practical too! We can't help it Juliet...just keep praying for a healthy baby and enough strength after it is here to get our bodies back in shape!

I am glad I am not alone. I feel horrible for feeling so vain but I think being pregnant has given me a whole set of emotions I am unsure of.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
I totally know how you feel. I have always been weight conscious and seeing the numbers go up hasn't been easy to deal with. I'm also not the most athletic person so I fear the weight won't come off easily.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
I definitely stress the weight gain. It's very hard to have such little control over it and it just keeps rising. It's going to be a biotch to take off all this extra weight and I'm actually determined to be 5lbs less than I was when I got pregnant.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
I was in the beginning but now I am truly happy not to be watching every calorie and working out constantly to stay thin and lean. Its like a relief almost. I got used to being bigger and now enjoy the fact that I can actually have dessert without working out for two hours the next day.
I hope this gives you a different perspective since it was super hard in the beginning- I only starting feeling this way lately.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
You are definitely not the only one. Everyday my belly and my chest get larger. In addition, I am breaking out all over my face (but can't use even over the counter topical meds) , growing hair in strange places, and actually (what feels like) losing hair on my head! I don't exactly feel very attractive lately. I actually can't wait to really start showing because at least people will know I am preggo and not just think I gained weight. So don't worry, I think it's a very common thing to feel this way.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
I felt this way at the beginning of pregnancy..i even posted how afraid i was because after years of weight watchers and taking off 45 pounds, i was so nervous to feel like i was going "back" and reversing everything i've done.
But...the more pregnant, wiser me (lol) knows now how incredbile of a job your body does during pregnancy..you have to remind yourself every day that you are creating a life and doing the single most amazing thing in the world!! I won't say that sometimes i don't get overwhelmed by the weight (i'm a few days shy of 38 weeks and put on 40!) BUT I plan to join WW again after the baby is here and not worry too much.
You will do great....just be healthy, indulge when you need to indulge and let natuire take its course! Besides, you are not getting FAT you are just pregnant!!

Re: Anxiety about changing body
I noticed I was more frustrated with my body than having anxiety about it changing because I was inbetween regular cloths and maternity cloths. Once I got to 20 weeks it didnt bother me b/c by then I needed maternity pants.

Re: Anxiety about changing body
After awhile, I just dealt with it, because I wasnt going to worry how fat I would get, because all I wanted was a healthy baby. You will get back into shape after, so enjoy it

Re: Anxiety about changing body
Don't worry this feeling does go away. I was training for a marathon and running 35-40 miles a week so I felt the changes right away.
Once you see how your baby is developing and gainging weight your attitude will change. I just keep picturing a fat chubby baby and that makes me happy.

I still cringe when I catch a profile of myself...I feel just like you...very out of control but that feeling was ALOT worse in the beginning of my pg. It never went away but now I just think "This is all for the baby!"

Re: Anxiety about changing body
YES!!!
And people keep looking at me and say - oh please - I am a size 4-6, and I work out, but people dont realize that its an effort for me to stay fit - I was never naturally thin, and people who know me now dont know what I went thru in my life to get my body to a healthy weight....
The only thing I can do is look at woman I know who had more than one child, and their bodies lok amazing! Some never really got fit until AFTER they had kids and realized they wanted to get themselves in better shape.
I also think a part of me was too afraid to diet and exercise too much and lose body fat that would affect my fertility, but now that I am PG, and have the child, I won't have to worry about it aftger I give birth, and maybe can work out a little more and harder (that is, if I have time!)
I already accepted the fact that for at least 2 months after the baby is born, I am not going to look my best, but I do what I can right now to eat the way I always have eaten, and exercise right for me and my little growing baby, and pray that we will both be healthy!
I do not blame you at all for thinking about this - unfortunately, we are defined sometimes by how we look, and in this day of celeb moms posing in friggin Playboy or walking down Victoria Secret runways 11 seconds after giving birth and looking perfect doesnt help either!

Re: Anxiety about changing body
Now since I'm just bloated and not "showing" I feel gross and just icky, I think once I start actually showing and know that it's a belly from the baby I won't feel so yucky. Right now I just feel like a water balloon.

And that's the worst thing to compare ourselves to. These people have personal trainers and chefs to get them back into shape. I don't know any "real" people who are able to afford that.
