Mexican places in NYC
I am going out tomorrow night with old friends from work and we are thinking mexican. We are all broke so we are trying to come up with a place that is cheap and also good. Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA

I like El Cantinero. it's somethign like 11th and University and it's very affordable. YUMMY fajitas and a cute outdoor dining area upstairs.

What neighborhood?
We are all coming from different directions-so it doesn't matter really.

Re: Mexican places in NYC
There's a place called Cancun on 50th adn 8th Ave (I think). Great food and even better margaritas. Very reasonable.
ETA: It's on 8th between 55th & 56th
Here's the link for the menu:
Cancun

Re: Mexican places in NYC
All time favorite, CHEAPer place is Canyon Road on the Upper East side.
I also love Dos Caminos (both locations) but it's a little more expensive.
Oh - and I just remembered Baby Bo's on the east side - I think 1st and 34th maybe. Cheap and yummy!!

Re: Mexican places in NYC
Zarelas Mama Mexico Rosa Mexicano Arriba Arriba
Zarelas is my all time favorite. One frozen margie and it will know you off your seat.
The food is fabulous adn the place is festive. It is moderately priced.
Mama Mexico is a little bit cheaper and they sometimes have a strolling mariachi band..that's cool..and they are good! I don't like the margies as much there though.
Rosa Mexicano-not cheap but Pomegranate margies are yummy
arriba arriba is probably the least expensive choice. Still very good.

That's a bit pricey though.
I'd suggest Mamma Mexico Marianne's Blue Moon
Of those, if it's a big group, I'd go with Mama Mexico, but I don't remember prices.

Re: Mexican places in NYC
Ariba Ariba- 50th or 51st and 9th La Cocina- between 46th and 47th on 9th
Mi Nidito- the best mexican I have had in NYC. Not cheap, but not expensive either.
Mary Ann's - there are a couple of locations.
Harry's Burrito's- West Villiage
Cowgirl Hall of fame- more tex-mex, but fun and great margaritas.

It can get pricey - I've only been there on client lunch/dinners.

Harry's Burrito's- West Villiage
I think they lost their lqiuor license. I believe that's where I was in April when we had to get beer from a deli across the street.

Tortilla Flats - it is really cheap and very fun. They have outdoor seating. I think it is on 12th and Washington.
