Natural Drugs vs. Chemical Drugs
just curious....
do you consider natural drugs like weed and mushrooms to be more "safe" or OK to do rather than say LSD, Special K or Ecstacy?

I would say yes if we were just talking about those two, but cocaine and herion are also "natural" drugs and arent as "benign" so to speak

No. A lot of the "herbs" have been manipulated over the years by growers to make them more and more potent.
The natural "herbs" that were taken in the 60's and 70's were often far less potent that those today.
It's been proven that weed today contains several times over the amount of THC that it did a few decades ago.
Just because comething is "natural" doesn't mean it's not as harmful.
Actually, call me an "old fart" but I never understood taking anything. Rather be in the moment in my own mental state and not "escape".

That's not neccesarily true. Both coke and heroin are always cut with something else.
As for the original question, I do feel that natural drugs are safer.

As for the original question, I do feel that natural drugs are safer.
What you are saying is true, but I would guess that even in its truest form there is still a great potential for overdose and death. I dont think someone could overdose on pot though.

Natural ones like weed and shrooms I don't think are dangerous. Substances like herion, coke, meth, special k, x - they frighten me - natural or chemical, the effects on the body and on people's lives - seriously scary.

absolutely-- although some of those things from the health store can be dangerous and are still manufactured-- a guy I went to college with died on spring break from taking "herbal exctasy".
But weed & mushrooms I feel are a lot more trustworthy.

Mushrooms are mushrooms which grow in the wild that produce similar effects to LSD when you eat them....
There are two main types and they are both very different.
The most common form is a species called psilocybe, the other more potent variety is amanita muscaria. There are deadly poisonous species of amanitas. If you don't know what you're doing, don't take them.
Both types of mushroom give you a trip. Trips can be good or bad. A good trip can be a lot of fun. A bad trip is your worst nightmare come to life. Any sort of trip can have quite random and sometimes very frightening effects. Trips feed off a person's imagination. One person can spend six hours in a very happy place while someone else who's taken the same mushrooms can spend six hours lost in their own fears and paranoia.
Bad trips are seriously frightening and unsettling. And you can't tell whether you're going to have a bad trip or a good trip (although there are things you can do to try and avoid a bad trip).
You're not in complete control of what you're doing. Your perception of your body and the world around you can be distorted.
Both mushrooms can make you feel sick, tired and disoriented

I see what you are saying, but I dont think the native americans have the potency of the drugs that we do. And to answer your question, take a look at that pic of Whitney Housten in the other post and I guess that is your answer to how bad can it really be

I think the risks of OD and toxicity are probably lower in "natural" drugs, but as Red mentioned about the potentially harmful effects of a bad trip (or even a good trip for that matter, because really dangerous things can happen wen you're unaware) or the possibility ofposionous mushrooms, there's no such thing as a "safe" drug.
Also, the drugs native americans used were different. Now there's the whole drug trade and farming, you don't know what's in what, and they have been bred to be more potent than even the drugs our parents used in the 60's, so it's almost like apples and oranges
