Re: Question for Middle School Teachers...

As part of my supply list, I ask for a set of dry erase markers for each student. They use the markers so often and they run out. Even with this, I end of buying many packs of them myself throughout the year. The school does not supply them (or much else). I know that for myself, I only ask for supplies that the children need. I teach first grade.

Re: Question for Middle School Teachers...

I think 140 markers to the class is over the top, and agree with the giving one extra to have if the childs is lost, forgotten, runs out etc, thinking.

ok just curious... but if the school does not supply dry erase materials, then why are they being required by the students?
I may be out of the loop (I have about 3 more years til I deal with this) but what happened to chalk and a chalk board? And pencils and notebooks for students? Whats with the dry erase? Chat Icon

In our school it's all part of differentiated instruction. Basically you need to teach to EACH individual not to just a class. Also in my school we are having tons of children with severe asthma and the dry eraser doesn't hold the same dangers that chalk dust does.

We also have a couple of students in our school some with OCD some with other 'issues' that they will not allow themselves to touch chalk. This way they can all participate.
