And just to rub salt in the wounds. Its probably someones summer or vacation home, not even their primary residence.

they will probably use it 10 weeks out of the year, the rest of the time it will sit empty, with the heat on 76....its a waste.

I'll never understand why someone would need or want that much space. Such a waste! 8 washers? Ridiculous!!

Re: pics of the house DH just finished
wow!! well, if you have $10M for a house, a measly $200K in renovations is nothing that's only 2% of the purchase price.
so if you bought a $400K house, that would equal only $8K in renovations.

My sister and her husband have 2 washer and dryers. One set is upstairs by the bedrooms and the other set is in their mudroom. But the reason for this is... my BIL is a fisherman. So they have a mudroom just for him... shower & w&d set. I can definitely understand that because he can stink!

Re: pics of the house DH just finished
As an architect working in the hamptons, I had a client that had 6 washers and dryers. Their reasoning for this, which is common for the Hamptons if strictly for the huge pool parties they through. Their towels are top of the line and so you aren't getting twenty towels in a washer and the drying time would take forever. So you have multiples. Also these homes have six to ten bedrooms that are filled most of the summer. The housekeepers actually do change the sheets on a daily basis. Ten sets of queen or king size sheets, you could imagine how long it would take to clean every day. That's my two cents.
And yes, this house is definitely only used during the summer. Its amazing how rich people really are.
