Question about friends of the opposite sex
I was talking to one of my guy friends about how he is moving back to NY and how we are going to get together and go shopping- his name is Craig and hes a very good looking guy and he is gay.
I was thinknig, how would I feel if dh has a girl "friend" who was gay but extremely attractive. Would I feel ok about this relationship?
And in my mind, I'd be a little jealous! Which is weird, because I would expect DH to be OK if I hung out with Craig...
So, how would you feel if your husband hung out with a very attractive gay woman?
I'm just trying to provoke discussion here.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
I would be a little jealous but I would not let it go to my head. I know that DH is faithful to me! Just the though thought of him maybe fantasizing about her

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
Probably slightly jealous that he is giving a female, that isn't me, so much attention. As far as the fantasizing, chances are if he sees a gorgeous lesbian anywhere, TV, etc. he's probably already fantasizing about her. It's natural.

I would be fine with it. If she's gay, she's gay. There's no possibility of anything happening.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
interesting. one of my best friends is a gay guy, never really thought about it if the tables were turned. I'd probably be a little jealous.

see thats how i feel! and you know, it's ok to feel like that. plenty of things in this world are a double standard. ie: women do the same work for less pay.
it is what it is

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
I have a gay man as a friend and my DH is absolutely fine with it. If he had a gay woman as a friend....that would be just fine with me.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
I'd be fine with it - she's gay and DH is married to me...and I don't get jealous too easily.
However the tables are reversed - one of my best friends (who is also my neighbor so I see him often) is gay and DH gets jealous. But DH gets jealous of any time I spend without him It's endearing and frustrating all at once.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
Most of my friends are males.. I have 1 gay friend... The ones I am REALLY close with I know he's ok with.. I can sometimes sense some Jealousy but he would never admit to it.. On the other hand, Ryan doesn't really have any "girl friends" How would I feel if he did? I am sure deep down I would feel a little jealous.. But I wouldn't tell him

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
Dh and I dont have any friends of opposite sex and I think we dont due to the problems that can arise and possible fights...so we avoid it to keep the peace.
I did and no matter how much he said he didnt care...HE SO DID!!
Im still friends with this person but keep it as a casual one if I see him out.
Silly but as much as I trust DH and vice versa....its normal to feel jealous and of course to feel that we, the women, can have it but they cant

Oh thats not entirely true! I know someone who is gay and has a girlfriend but I know she would totally get with certain guys (with her girlfriend there too )
ANyway, I would be jealous but depending upon the history of the friendship, Id let him go....I trust him!

I agree with this. I wouldn't be able to help feeling a little jealous. I have a gay guy friend too and a few years ago went to visit him (he lives in DC) and stayed with him, DH was definitely a bit uncomfortable and jealous even though there is no question that this guy is gay.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
DH has one female friend that he's had for years. They even exchange bday and xmas gifts. (I dont even do this with my female friends mind you). But I accept this friendship. She's been a good friend to him and helps us out when we need her.
BUT she's the exception.
I don't take comfort knowing that my DH has fun with, is intrigued by, or looks forward to spending time with another female.
When we were dating, I played it off like I was OK with it. But now that we're married, I'm a lot more vocal about my feelings on this matter.

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
We know men just love the whole lesbian thing (half the porn out there). And especially if she's hot!
Nah...not a good arrangement for friendship

Re: Question about friends of the opposite sex
I tell my DH all the time I need a gay boyfriend to go shopping with and stuff.
If he had a hot lesbian friend...I would be nervous because some guys think the fact that they are lesbian is hot...and that she is attractive...great. Luckily he does not have any lesbian friends that I am aware of
