H E L L no....way too depressing.
MY SIL had to call me to tell me about the tornado watch from Katrina the other night because I don't watch the news

since I've been working in NYC, I bought the shower radio and listen every morning (to make sure everything is okay before I leave).
At night, I watch the local news to hear about the things that I just narrowly avoided in NYC.
Like that car crash/polich chase on the corner of 40th St and Broadway- I walk on the corner EVERY DAY in the morning and evening. I happened to go home early that day.

I try to listen to the news at least once a day. I don't read the paper though.

I used to, but it's too sad. I do like Meet the Press, but that's it for now. I'm well aware of what's happening, at the moment I prefer to get my news from the BBC on the web. I had to put myself on a similar news "diet" after 9/11 because I was really getting depressed.

I watch the NewsHour almost every night, and a little bit of CNN and MSNBC and sometimes for a hoot we watch FOX news.
I also love the Daily Show but that's not really news I guess.
And I love Frontline which is kind of news-ish.

Yes, I watch it everyday both local and BBC. I agree that it is depressing, but there is some part of me that needs to be kept aware of even the horrible things in the world.

YES! I am obsessed. My dh makes fun of me all the time for it. I HAVE to listen to it before I leave for work, I cant miss the five o'clock news and usually I stay up to watch the 11 o'clock one as well. Sometimes I think it lends to my nervous personality but I need to know whats going on in the world at all times. Even on the way home, I listen to the headline stories on 1010...I need to know what I missed while I was at work.

I usually watch the news getting dressed in the morning and DH and i watch fox 5 at night to catch up on the day.

not if i can help it!
I stopped watching the news when my brother went over to Iraq because it seemed every story was about another Marine getting shot or killed and it was too much for me to take.
And even though he's home now - it's still too close to home to hear about it....so I stay away from the news

I listen to the news on the radio in the mornings and watch either msnbc, cnn or some other nightime news program

I remember my family used to watch the news religiously from 5-7 pm during dinner. Not me. I catch it everyday, but unless something is turning our world upside down, like when JFK jrs. plane went missing, Princess Diana, 9/11, etc, I just glimpse. I do watch CBS this morning because they have great traffic coverage
