Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I would have my son wait until at least middle school before getting an ear pierced. And it can only be one, I don't like men who have an earring in both year, no matter what age.

My son won't have his ears pierced or any tattoos as long as he's living under my roof and my daughter will not have any tattoos... those are just our rules though.

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I wouldnt let my 9 year old get an earing.
I can just imagine the district im in.. the parents would all not want there kids playing with him and the teachers would look at him differently.
A 9 year old with an earing is gonna look like a troublemaker, and to be honest.. why would a 9 year old boy want an earing?
My 10 year old son would laugh at the idea of getting his ears pierced.

I have no problems with guys having earings but I do think 9 is a little young for that!! Maybe when they are like 14 or 15

Hey everyone thanks for your opinions - I was really curious to see what the general consensus is....I agree with most of yall in the fact that it could be worse (tattoo) but I still wouldnt allow that. I am still shocked that my baby brother has one! I am sure my dad was too tired to argue.....

Oh and BTW he goes to a private school in Nassau if that makes any difference.

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I think 9 is way too young IMO...But at least your brother was old enough to voice that he wanted one. When I took Nate to the Dr. yesterday there was this little boy who couldn't have even been more than 1.5 yrs old who had his ears pierced. All I kept thinking was WHY???

Too young, IMO. However, if I had a daughter I would pierce her ears as a baby. Go ahead call me a hypocrite, I don't care. Chat Icon

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

My godson is nine also and he got an earring when he was eight. If I had a son and he wanted an earring I wouldn't mind, but I would want him to wait until he was around 16. My godson also got his blond tips put in his hair.Chat Icon

I might just be old fashioned, but I think he's a little too young for all this.

I think it's on the young side. Though I have seen little boys around 3 or 4 w/ an earing.Chat Icon What are their parents thinking

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I wouldn't care if my sons wanted to get earrings, but they wouldn't be allowed to get one until they could pay for it themselves.

However, I know a 6 year boy who got an ear ring and then 3 months later took it out. It's a waste of money.

WHy not?
I see little girls with earring all the time.

If this was a 9 year old girl there would be no question.

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I think I'm being a little prudish about this, but 9 seems young for a boy with an earring, but not a girl. Double standard, I know. but if he really really wanted it and was responsible, etc as described above, I wouldn't say no

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

My son is 8, and there is NO WAY I'd let him get an earring! If it was something that he REALLY wanted, and he was a really good kid, did well in school,etc...MAYBE 16...MAYBE!!!

Re: Parents - what do you think of this?

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I like to think of myself as open minded, but I'm inclined to think I'd say no. I'm not a fan of men with earrings at any age so I wouldn't want him to get it just because I don't care for the look. Also, where do you draw the line? Would you let your nine-year-old daughter get a belly ring? My answer to that would be a big hell no!
