I say it automatically too but there are a few people around me who do not - so I stopped saying it to them.

I usually do... Although I was with a friend when he got attacked at school for telling a stranger, "God Bless You"
He though that my friend had no right to "Bless him"
I was hesitant to say bless you to anyone but friends for a while...

I say it, but used to work with people who never did.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone says "Bless", not "bless you".

I am very superstitious (spelling?) and I feel like if I don't say "bless you", then something bad is going to happen to me...Even if I just whisper it and they don't hear me, I still have to do it.

It actually started in the Middle Ages. They thoguht that your soul was left vulnerable or opened when you sneezed. They said, "God Bless You" to keep ***** from creeping into your soul. Yes, around the time of the plague. Same time period and disease that brought us "Ring Around the Rosie"

I think bless you comes out automatically. Those with sneezing fits get a maximum of two before they get "jeez, shat up already!"
