Re: Was the epidural as bad as you expected?
I had epidural and it was HEAVENLY. I felt strong, sharp pain for a few seconds while it was being inserted and that's it. The results were TOTALLY worth it. Nothign to be afraid off! I will do it again when the time comes for baby #2

Re: Was the epidural as bad as you expected?
I didn't feel any discomfort from the epidural. I was so against getting it and when I did I was quite surprised how painless it was..maybe because my back labor was so painful I didn't feel the needle. The woman did a great job putting it in!

Re: Was the epidural as bad as you expected?
I had an epidural... after 9 hours of laboring on my own with the most intense back labor, I asked for it. I'm a wuss when it comes to needles and I really thought I wouldn't get an epi, not because I wanted to go natural, but because the thought of an epi scared me more than natural birth! When they did it, it didn't hurt at all, it just felt weird, and I was so freaked out and in so much pain to begin with that I started hysterically crying. But after, OMG, it felt amazing

Re: Was the epidural as bad as you expected?
It wasn't bad at all! I even told the anesthesiologist (sp?) I loved him :):) It was just a little pinch....I am SUCH a wimp (have passed out on many occasions - like a CPR class for example ) but I would have one again in a second. It gave SUCH relief to my contractions however it started to wear off for my pushing so I still felt all of that .

Re: Was the epidural as bad as you expected?
I've posted before that I'm in the minority but the epidural for me was the most painful part of labor. And I don't write that to scare anyone. As you can see most women loved getting it for it's after effects.
Once it kicked in I was very happy to have it. Would I get it again?-- no chance.
