Anyone not see children in their near future?
Although DH and I will not rule it out we are not sure that we want to have children. If we do decide we want to be married for 5 years. We have been married for a little over a year now. I was just wondering if I'm alone on this?

Us. Definitely not now (or even in 5 years), possibly not ever.

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
As much as we'd both want one soon...it just doesn't make sense for us any time soon.
Even though we've been together for a while we'd like to enjoy "being married", traveling, etc. We're also tossing around the idea of waiting to have a child until we get a house, but if we wait that long I'll be "dried up" .
So to answer your question near future - no. More like 2 years.

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
we are very unsure; if it happened by "surprise" we would welcome the child of course, but right now...DH is getting his MBA and we both plan to travel together...we have a few things we want to do first, just the two of us. But I do think about it....yes.
Edit: And right now, we're in the us stage. We're kind of just about each other right now, and I think that's fine. We're mature enough to know we're too immature for kids now. Does that make sense?!

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
your definetly not alone on this one. my and my dh discuss this and we are not ready at all. We want to travel, have a house and be financially secure. so we have agreed to wait until we are at least 30 if not later then that. right now i dont feel like they are for us. you never know.

Ditto! And I know everyone will jump on here and say "you'll never afford one", but IMHO it's better to be debt free - which we're not.

My DH and I talk about this all the time. We're not sure we're ever going to want to have children. If we do decide to have them, now is definitely not the right time.

I could've written this word for word. Not ruling it out but no plans for the near (or even distant) future.

This is totally us. We are too selfish to have kids right now. I like just picking up and taking a drive or going to the casino or an overnight somewhere and not having to worry about who is going to watch the kids. I have a niece and nephew (4 and 6) - I love being an Aunt!!!

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
Sometimes I worry that when I finally am ready I won't biologically be able to have them. By the way I'm an only child and DH is practically an only child (his next sibling is 13 years older) and I wonder if that has anything to do with our lack of desire. Anyone else an only child?

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
I am totally with you. We were married for 5 years before we even felt ready at all. Everyone seemed to think there was something not right about that too! We were totally into the "us" stage as well- traveling, going out, just being free to do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. And even though we had decided to start trying after our 5 year anniversay, I'm not too sure we are even ready now. Our discussions lately have been leading us to think about waiting even longer. I agree with the "mature enough to know we are not mature enough" statement. I think it's the smartest thing you can do when you admit that you are not ready- even though you think you "should" be!

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
I had my first after 7 years of marriage. I was 28 when I gave birth though. So I married pretty young. Don't regret it one bit.We were able to finish school, buy a house and fully renovate it before the baby. I thoroughly enjoyed the time with my husband. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about not having kids right away. I must of heard that question a million times..."So when you guys having kids??" None of your business!!

Re: Anyone not see children in their near future?
Definitely not in the near future. When DH and I talk about the possibility we are both like, maybe I guess. So, with answers like that, we are definitely not ready to be parents. We want to be more established, buy a home and travel more. So, like the majority of people who posted here, we still want "us" time. Plus, I can barely take care of an aloe plant at the moment, that doesn't bode well for my parenting skills.

We don't have plans to have children. If I were to get pregnant, we would totally welcome a baby, but it's not likely to happen.

4+ years before we start trying
if an accident happends then thats gods plan, but im honestly not excite to have babies anytime soon
my 2 nephews at my house for 3 hours is enough to keep me from having kids for a while

We really don't have a time frame or anything like that but we know we aren't going to start trying anytime soon. I don't know when , but not right now.
