My ILs are financially set... they are both retired.

My parents are still working and supporting my brothers. When I was working, I helped my brothers out by sending them money when they were away at school.

Re: Do you have to help support Parents/Inlaws?

When I was a little younger I helped support my mom. She was in a rough place for about 10+ years , starting when I was 19. I paid rent and then ended up just taking an allowance out of my paycheck and handing it to her. I was living at home. Then I paid the bills and her the rent. When I moved out and she regained financial strength she made up for it ten fold. She paid for a lot of our Wedding and continual gives us money. She has paid me back twenty times over with her finacial help.

My MIL is not finacially secure in the least. Most of the burden falls to my oldest BIL who has a lot of $$$ from a lottery win, before that we gave her about $200 a month to help her live. Now, its about $20-$40 a month for some small essentials.

thanks, totally understand Rebecca. My MIL is young and capable, FIL is sick. Big difference in my mood when the phone rings for cash.

jenn-you are a wonderful daughter. Has she been feeling better?

yeah, she's doing a lot better and she can get around and do things, but she will probably never be able to work. Things have settled down a lot, but there's still just not enough money, so we do what little we can. I don't mean to sound b*tchy about it saying it's a strain earlier, it's jsut I feel I shouldn't have to, it's my dad's fault for leaving us in this situation. I'll support my mom forever to my last dime, but what angers me is my dad. But my mom's doing ok. We're coming up on a year since she fell and since my dad left. it's a long road, but we're sticking togetherl. thanks for asking
