Re: Yet ANOTHER hair straightening question....

My friend told me only 48 hours and to stay away from Salt Water as it will reverse a perm.

She told me it was perfectly fine to put it up in a ponytail with a hat if we were heading out to the beach or pool.

I haven't had to flat iron it once. I do flip it over and blow it dry super fast once it's 90% dry.

I got mine done here on the island for $300. My hair is fine but was really wavy/curly. I still have to blow it out if I want it pin straight.
No flat iron thou.

I'm hoping with future application it gets a little straighter. It's still a little wavy. He said if he left it in any longer my hair would have broken off because it's deceivingly fine.

I think when this happens they haven't done it correctly. When they do this, your hair is pin straight that even if you air dry your hair, it will dry up pin straight. You shouldn't have to blow it out unless after many months after having it done.

I agree, and disagree.

I agree that they are probably not doing it properly. However, I disagree that you don't have to blow dry your hair.

I blow dry my hair so that it doesn't air dry and look like a broom b/c it is so pin straight. I blow dry it (5 mins top) with a paddle brush to give it a bit of fullness and it looks a lot neater.

Really??? Thanks for the info. I really didn't want to go into Queens but that may be what I have to do. I didn't want to pay $500 here and found him.

Do you think I should go back and talk to him or should I just chalk it up and go elsewhere?

If you guys have any recommendations please FM or post. TIA for all the helpful info!!!

Re: Yet ANOTHER hair straightening question....

Hey girls, I have another couple of questions...

Should I wash my hair b/f going? Or just let them do that with their stuff?

And, if it is raining when I leave the place, what can I put over my head to keep it from getting wet at all -obviously I can use an umbrella, but if some mist or wayward raindrops hit it, will that screw it up? I am now obsessing about it fixing itself in some odd kinks if I use a hood or something.

Thanks again Chat Icon
