Our house was robbed today!!!

Apparently in broad daylight. Someone must of kicked in our side door and got in. The whole thing is messed up. So much for a deadbolt and a door handle lock. Chat Icon Luckily my dogs weren't hurt and no one was at home... I'm grateful for that. One of my dogs was locked in my son's bedroom and the other one was running around. They're not much of watch dogs I guess. I'm sure they would be if we were home at the time.

Unfortunately, they stole my DH's Premium XBox 360 that he stood in line for 11 hours for and his accessories, also they took his original XBox and 15-20 games and accessories for that. They also got my mom's digital camera and memory card. There were still pictures in it too. So far that's all that we can see that they took. They messed up the whole house looking for valuables. I don't have any though.

My poor DH is soooo upset. He's upset for our safety of course, but also because of the XBox. The one time we got some extra money and this is what happens. He's been waiting for it for a LONG time. It was his B-day/Xmas present.

I can't believe there were strangers in our house. How can I sleep now??? I'm also home with my son alone most nights until late. I'm so scared. Now I have to worry about this and my surgery on top of it. Just when we thought things were getting better. Chat Icon We had the police here earlier. Of course there's nothing they can do. I already asked the neighbors and nobody was home. Figures! This was my biggest fear moving to this town. We live in a nice older neighborhood, but the town itself stinks. I'm so nervous now. Re: Our house was robbed today!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry. I know the feeling; my house was robbed twice while I was living at home (along with a few other "attempteds") and DH's home was robbed when we were engaged.

What really helped me get over some of the fear while I was living at home was getting the alarm--it really does offer peace of mind. We just bought a house in October and an alarm was my top priority. Otherwise, please just be aware of your surroundings at all times--I think I border on the paranoid sometimes!

The feelings of violation are horrible, aren't they? I hope you're feeling better soon and again, I'm sorry you had to go through this.

Ohh, I'm so sorry. That really stinks. People really s@ck. I'm just glad you weren't home at the time. Can your insurance company reimburse you for the cost of the items that were stolen?

Re: Our house was robbed today!!!

Insurance should cover the cost of the robbery. Have you considered getting an alarm? I would. It would really help your piece of mind. I am so sorry about this. I would be a total mess too. Of course you are nervous. This is awful.

Re: Our house was robbed today!!!

Thank God nobody was home. I agree with getting an alarm. It is one of the first things I did when I moved into my house, and when I found out I was PG. I even put it on at night. Of course, maybe I watch too many police dramas, but my biggest fear is that somebody would come in and hurt my baby.

Re: Our house was robbed today!!!

This Nov. it was a year that someone broke into our house and with time you get over it. It does make you more aware of your surroundings and now I always notice the way the house is set up inside that way when I come home I know if someone has been their. We had an alarm and they still broke in (we didnt have the signs outside) and they tried to take a few things but ended up with nothing. If you can't afford an alarm at the moment I would reccommend adding motion lights to where ever it is dark around your house and also see if you can purchase the alarm signs from a company. The police said that those signs are the number one deternt for robbers because they wont take a chance. I promise it will get better with time Chat Icon .

Re: Our house was robbed today!!!

I can't even believe this! How horrible! I'd be terrified to think that people were in my house too!

I'm so glad noone was hurt. You keep hearing all these home invasion stories (there was another one this morning) and in a lot of cases the people are home so I'm almost thankful you weren't there and noone was hurt!
