is your room bigger than your sisters? when my older sister moved out, i repainted her room when the car still down the block. i was in the smaller bedroom for 20 years, i had enough.
you have a beautiful house and a wonderful new husband - does it really matter if your siister took your old room?
Im upset in the way they did it. No one called me to come over or anything....ANDDDD like I said my brothers room which is just as big as mine has been empty for years ...if she wanted a bigger room she could have been in there for a long time. I guess you guys dont know my sister...she is evil and selfish and just gets whatever she wants.

my dad did the same thing almost--- except he threw out EVERYTHING of mine. eveyrthing. there was sooooo much cenitmental things he threw out (like my things from my grandpa who died, the ONLY picture i had of my sister i never met, etc)
so to be honest i dont really see why you are so upset....
nothing of yours was thrown away? they meerly moved it out of the room... maybe to light a fire under ya to go thrrew it.
i dont see the big deal AT ALL to be honest. why would you be upset your sister has the room and wanted to paint it??
i can see more that youd be upset that your brothers room is still empty.... but paint? and moving your things?
im sorry and i really hope im not comign off as bytchy, i dont mean to by any means, i just dont see the big deal.

Because it was never even discussed with me that she even WANTED to move down there.... I literally live 6 minutes away and no one called me. I had lingerie and othwer things that I would have rather my father and sister not seen. And like I said.. it isnt like they put stuff in boxes...it is all thrown into clear gargabe bags. clothes mixed in with pictures and letters...it will take me FOREVER to go through and sort.

it was the opposite in my family, my older sster got whatever she wanted. when i went away to college she was incredily jealous and threw out all the clothes in my closet. in front of my dad.
honestly, by you getting so upset by this, your sister really knows that she got to you. don't let that happen. let it go, go get your stuff and bring it to you HOUSE.

wow... I can't imagine if my folks did that to me.  I have been out of their house for YEARS but still have a ton of stuff in their basement - mostly wedding gifts. I also have some stuff there from my childhood and it would hurt if they just packed it up and said "get it outta here".

That's awful. I would feel the same way.
I've been out of my house for over two years, and all of my knick-knacks, dolls, etc are all where I left them in my childhood bedroom. I would be devastated if my parents just boxed stuff up and redid my room without consulting me at all. My dad uses the room as his computer room, and he and my mom both have their stuff in various drawers, but the rest of my stuff was left as is on the shelves. My mom often urges me to take stuff home with me, but she knows that we have no room right now.

That was very wrong on your sister's part  your dad probably didn't want to hear her complaining anymore. she could have waited and given you more time. I don't blame you for being upset. I would be mad that they went through my stuff!!!! It's not a matter of throwing things out or keeping them for you , it's that they couldn't wait 5 minutes until you got settled

I would be just as upset as you are- and you are perfectly entitled to feel the way you do.
It would be one thing if they'd been asking you to clear the room out for a while and you were just putting it off, but they just went ahead and cleared out all of your personal belongings without giving you the opportunity to do it yourself. I have a hard time believing that your sister couldn't wait one more week for that room.

I went thru the same thing
before I even left for college- my Sister redid my room- the room was a "gift" technically "santa" gave it to me- the x-mas before my brother was born
then my brother goes to school- and his rooms remains a shrine to him- even after I move back home- and I am forced to live in a tiny room while his -the biggest of the 3 bedroom- just sits there
I would joke that my parents put up a velvet rope and it was a musesum- but I was furious
I feel for you - it's tough

I dont think it is selfish to want to pack up my own stuff. You dont know my sister. The world revolves around her. She gets whatever she wants when she want sand is never told no. This is not just her wanting a bigger room, as she could have had my brother, she had to have MY room and she had to it the way she did because she KNEW Id be upset. She wont even SPeAK to me. I called her to talk to her about it and she hung up on me....
Your right that there are bigger things to worry about and I wasnt really asking in my original post for people to say if I was right or wrong in being upset. It is just tough to see your entire life chucked aside and I was expressing that.

I always had the small room in my house. I never had a closet UNTIL my brother MOVED OUT... Man he was moving his boxes out and I was moving my CLOTHES in. Don't be upset. You are married and starting a new life in a new PLACE.

I just wanted to add that no one should be telling you that you're too upset or that you shouldn't be upset about something. You can't control your feelings, and things that upset one person may not upset another, and vice versa. Everyone has their own things that they are sensitive about.
You're perfectly entitled to your feelings. I would feel the same way.
