Bronx zoo, anyone go recently ?

we plan on going on a weekday, so it will not be as crowded as a weekend (I hope )
i havent been there in AGES so can anyone give me an idea of how long we might be there ? is it huge, or is it in and out, I really have little recollection of it

We went in October. We were there for about 4.5-5 hours. We could have been there longer .. there were still plenty of things to see but DS started to get tired and we got there later then we expected. FM me if you have any other questions

Its a huge park, some inside stuff, a lot outside! We usually went in the summer but it was just too hot to walk around all those hours.....

We are going to go back next month!

The last time we went we got there at 12 and left when they were closing the park! A long day!

i'm planning to go over the break but i'm wondering if it is going to be crowded..i haven't been there in YEARS!!! my kids have been spoiled with the san diego zoo a few times!

I have never finish seeing everything in one day.

Don't go on a Wednesday.

And even though its during the week still prepare for a decent crowd. Its a huge hit with the schools and daycares, SAHM'S, etc.. especially once it starts to get nice.

I haven't been there on a weekend in many many years, but was surprised at how crowded it was during the week.

We have the family membership, if you plan to go back its a great deal!

Anna make sure you and your husband go together and not alone. Most of the 'house' (animal house, reptile house, etc) are not stroller friendly and you have to leave them outside!

I believe Wednesdays are free too I think they just ask for a donation.

Well my little Luca turns three on Wed so that was our big family day, so it might be extra crowded welcome to NYCity

we just went to the philadelphia zoo on saturday. it was pretty warm, but some of the animals were still inside so we couldn't see them. they also had these tips for avoiding crowds aka field trips, which is probably true for the bronx zoo too:
Durning the months of April, May, and June, plan your visit for a non-holiday Monday, Saturday or Sunday mornings, or weekdays after 1 p.m. During the summer, visit weekday mornings, or daily after 2:00pm.

It's huge. You will love it! I was there 4 years ago but however I remember it being a huge place.

I went last year when she was 11 months old. She loved seeing the animals. I loved it too!

Definetly, DO NOT GO ON WEDNESDAYS! Wayyyyy too over crowded.

We didn't get to finish the park, we are definetly going back this summer.

I took DD last fall and the place is HUGE! I would suggest to really study the map layout so you can visit the aminals that interest your family the most before the kids get too tired

We also bought an extra ticket that gives you access to the monarail, shuttle, childrens zoo and a few other things. It was a nice break from walking. Also just to be aware some exhibits have an additonal fee. Overall we had a great time!!

We went last May and we met up with other people who had kids the same age as Genevieve. We were there pretty much ALL day (11am to maybe 4)

There is plenty to do there now - it's a lot of fun!

It is huge and it does get pretty crowded especially on a free day. There is some kind of a zoo pass that you can buy if interested that gets you into several different zoos and includes the bronx zoo and the central park zoo.

We go every summer on our way to LI to break up the trip. We are usually there for about 4ish hours and see most, not all things. We have to cut it short according to traffic there though.
