Hello everyone!!! We're back from the hospital - here are some pictures....EDITED TO ADD MY BIRTH STORY
I'm going to post my birth story later, because I wasn't prepared to give birth 2 weeks early, so I have a ton of stuff to do (we just got home from the hospital a couple of hours ago).
Anyway, here are some pictures for now of our precious little boy, Jackson Drennan 
MY BIRTH STORY
Ok, this is a little long, but here we go:
I woke up Wednesday morning at 2:30am with what I thought were Braxton Hicks combined with gas pains. The pains would come and go, so I started timing them - they were 6 minutes apart. I really didn't think they were labor pains, because it really did just feel like gas bubbles. So I got up and drank some water, then went back to bed, but the pain kept coming. It eventually started getting stronger, so I got out of bed and finished packing my hospital bag just in case. Nothing seemed to make the pains go away; I changed positions from lying down to sitting to walking. I even took a shower and that didn't work either. Finally at around 6:30am, I woke up DH and told him what was going on and that I think we need to go to the hospital. I still didn't think that this was real though. I was 2 weeks early, to the day! DH and I dropped off Bama at Camp Bow Wow, and on the way to the hospital I got a few good contractions. When I got to the hospital, they hooked me up to the monitors to check the baby and also my contractions. Then the nurse checked to see if I was dilated; I was 2-3 cm (oh, and this was my first internal ever. Can I just tell you it was NOT fun! My cervix was behind the baby's head so she had to really dig to find it  )
The nurse told me to go walk the halls for an hour to see if that would progress my labor. So DH and I walked, and the contractions started getting stronger. A few of them made me see stars. Came back an hour later, now I'm 3-4 cm, so they put me in a L&D room. Got hooked up to an IV and the nurse asked me if I wanted any pain meds like an IV med or the epidural. Just then my contractions really kicked in. I tried the IV med but it didn't do a thing, so they called for the epidural. After I got that, all was good 
My legs felt like they weighed 50 lbs each, and I got pretty drowsy and also nauseous. I wound up getting sick twice, but afterwards I felt much better. At around 12:30pm my doctor came in and broke my water, and holy moly it was like he opened the flood gates! I couldn't believe how much my stomach deflated after that. A couple of hours later one of the nurses came in and asked me if I'd moved - the baby's heart rate had dropped but then came back up, so she was concerned that maybe the cord was pinched or something. I hadn't moved, so they put me on oxygen, flipped me over to my other side, and monitored me carefully for a while. She checked to see how far along I was, and I was 9 cm. A short while later, at 4pm, it was time to push. I had 2 great nurses who really helped me through the whole thing. They gave me pitocin because my contractions had slowed to 5 min apart. The pitocin made them come more like 2 min apart. It was amazing how now I could tell when I was having a contraction because I could feel the urge to push. It didn't hurt, but I just knew I had to push. After pushing for a while, the baby's head wasn't coming down. So my doctor came and told me he was going to use the vacuum on the baby's head to help it come down. A few more round of pushing (which didn't feel too comfy) and finally my doctor says, "Ok Ann, one more time and this baby will be born!" That gave me the strength to push through the pain, because at this point I almost wanted to give up. But a few more pushes and one of the nurses said "open your eyes and look down!" I looked down and there was my baby halfway out. His poor little noggin was pretty deformed from the vacuum, but soon he was out and at 5:14PM DH was announcing that it was a boy! They put Jackson on my belly and DH cut the cord, then they took him to clean him up, measure and weigh him, etc. While they did that, I got stitched up. Yes, I had the dreaded episiotomy which I had so feared. But you know what, as terrified as I was of it beforehand, when my doctor was doing it, I really didn't care. I wasn't even thinking about anything other than getting the baby out. After I was all stitched up, I got to hold Jackson again. It was the strangest feeling holding him and looking at him and just trying to believe that he was really here and he was really ours 
Then DH went with one of the nurses to take Jackson to get some tests and shots and to get his first bath. I got moved to a recovery room, had some dinner, and then DH and Jackson came back. DH stayed in the room with us until we got discharged yesterday afternoon.
As far as recovery, I'm pretty sore in the bum area 
And my ab muscles are so stretched out that they can't support my back, so I can't do too much around the house (which stinks, because I have so much to do, being that I didn't expect to deliver 2 weeks early). DH has been a huge help though, taking care of the baby and making sure I get my rest.
