Re: spin off of AIDS..
I don't know anyone, but I know people who know people and have known people.
It's funny that you mention the seniors. In the fall I directed a play that dealt with AIDS and cancer, and in rehearsals we had discussed that statistic. Every night after performances we hold a symposium to get feedback from the audience. One night after the symposium an elderly woman got up in my face and was really berating me, asking if the play was meant to say AIDS was worse than cancer (it in NO way aimed to compare the two....why would I ever direct a play like that?) and I told her I didn't think the playwright was trying to send that message at all, and she went on and on about how cancer is worse than AIDS and I said 'they're both horrible, devastating diseases" and she was still in my face saying cancer is worse and that people who have AIDS have done it to themselves, and she ket saying "it's your generation, it's your generation being stupid and spreading AIDS". Meanwhile, one of the faster growing AIDS population is the senior population because they can no longer have children and their sexual heyday was before the onslaught of many of teh STDs we face today, including, of course , AIDS, so the use of condoms to prevent disease is totally foreign to them. I really hated how she got in my face that way and she was so incorrect. Some people do get AIDS because of irresponsible behavior, but some people make mistakes, or have blood transfusions, or had sex with someone who lied about the results, etc etc. And I don't think that no matter what anyone does they can ever "deserve" AIDS
