Re: WEll, guess it's my turn for family "issues"
I haven't yet....but i so should. My mom's been an abusive alcoholic all my life, and for some insane reason I am now living across the street from her. My last hope was that after I had a child she might change, but no luck. I am ready to move whenever it's possible, and don't plan on ever spending any time with her ever again after that!

Re: WEll, guess it's my turn for family "issues"
When my dad left us I let him have it with both barrels and I haven't spoken to him since. He's called a few times, but I have no desire to speak with him. My feeling is, parent or not, if they don't act like a parent and they want to be azzholes, they can go piss off in plain english.
I'm sorry about your mom. It IS rough...

Re: WEll, guess it's my turn for family "issues"
I haven't actually 'told off' a parent but I have completely written off my father. We haven't spoken in about 5 years and while I assume he knows I'm married, it would only be through word of mouth since I didn't contact him at all about it.
No matter how much you know it's the right decision, though, it still hurts to do. I'm sorry you're going through this, especially at this point in your life, but it seems to be the best thing you can do.

I am so sorry Shana.
I don't get how people try to make special events that are supposed to celebrate you into dramas about them.
