Re: This probably belongs on the home board
but the fact that they lowered their price 30K in 2 months...
well that is a PLUS in your favor...
something is off.....
they just may be desperate to sell

Re: This probably belongs on the home board
There's no harm in trying...look at comparables so you don't get laughed at. There's no harm in trying!!
And you may get lucky...a house here sold 2 years ago for $68K while houses were around $200-300K...why? The owners never paid taxes, so the county sold it for TAXES!! It p!ssed off all the other owners...but someone got very lucky on a custom built house.
You NEVER know!! Go for it!!
And this isn't just house dust!

Re: This probably belongs on the home board
Posted by SweetestOfPeas we saw one in Timberidge yeasterday. just came on the market last week. we walk in and the skylight in the living room and bathroom are both leaking nice house though... with custom kitchen cabinets & granite counters. we might have even considered it - thank goodness it was raining.
yes...sometimes looking at a house when it is raining is a HUGE blessing!

see that is what i thought at first....
just go for it...nothing to lose.
But you do. Especially when you do it a few times....
You starting getting really sad and down..And it does hurt....to watch a house that you got your hopes up on the off chance they might go for it....be sold to someone else....
As a buyer you start getting worried and you will go back to the price range you were originally looking....and that is EVEN MORE depressing....
So i all honesty...buyers have to have a really good agent that can give you the comparables....
because in the NY market.....that is a BIG aspect of it.

Re: This probably belongs on the home board
lowering the price $30K is alot for a first drop- my Dad drooped his about $12K - (he is a former real estate broker- )
either the house was over priced for the area or they are desperate, or something is wrong
I would bid- I would get comps on the area- but they might already be at there low point and might not be able to go any lower-
remember these people have to buy a home some where- so they need the money from the sale of this home to it
hopefully they would counter offer-

Re: This probably belongs on the home board
We offered $75,000 less than what someone was asking. They came back and offered $25,000 less and now they are at $45,000 less. It totally depends on the situation. Every single one is different. Good Luck.

Re: This probably belongs on the home board
if you are the only one bidding on the house and its been on the market for a long time its probably over priced to begin with
i think if the people are eager they will sell
the fact that they lowered thier price says alot
again like i said, have your agent look into this and get a feel
you never know
