The lady that hit my PARKED CAR - happy update

Has yet to call it in to her Insurance company.

I talked to her yesterday and told her the damage is $1100, so she said she'd have to go through her insurance. Welllllll, she's going on vacation tomorrow for a week, so maybe she thinks that she'll just wait a week til she gets back, and I can drive around with a busted up rear end?!

I mean, have a little consideration, lady. You hit ME. I had nothing to do with it!

I called my company to find out if I had to alert them, even though I wasn't involved. Luckily, the nice lady over there called the HITTER'S insurance co, and discovered that she never called anything in! Chat Icon

I don't know what the heck is going on, but I want my car fixed! It looks sooooo bad right now!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE:
Just wanted to update - her insurance company called me today to say that they're sending out an adjustor to look at it next week, but they're covering at 100% and will cut me a check ASAP.

Thanks everyone

I am so sorry you are having a problem & I am glad you are OK.Chat Icon

Luckily you had the good sense to call you insurance company, so now if she waits too long to submit her claim you have a leg to stand on if you have to sue. DH had a similar problem with a guy that drove into his truck when he was at the bank. eventually our ins co got the claim settled & our rate did not go up, nor were we responsible for the other guys damage.

Nic, if you have her insurance information you call can file the claim through her policy.

You should be okay now that your insurance company submitted the claim to her insurance company.

Did you get a police report?

well, I would call the lady and if you do have her insurance info. tell her that you need your car repaired ASAP. If she doesn't contact you then you will have to file a claim through her policy.

Re: The lady that hit my PARKED CAR

I am sorry you are going through this, it is very frustrating... this woman hit our car in a parking lot and then would not park her car on her parking space... but we finally chased her down and she finally paid to paint the doors...

no...when I called the police, they told me that since it was a parked car and the lady took responsibility and left me her info, they don't get involved. I thought that was weird!

well, if both parties are cooperating a police report does not need to be filed. If theyv think the damage is minimal they won't file it either.

Re: The lady that hit my PARKED CAR

If you have collision on your car, your insurance company should do the leg work for you. And, since it's completely the idiot woman's fault, it won't do anything to your policy or rates.

I was rear-ended last week, so I'm going through all of this now, too.

This happened to me. Old lady hit my car while I was IN the bank. Had witnesses, too. I called my DH and IL's since it happened 2 blocks away. They said no matter what, always involve the police in case the hitter doesn't hold up to the bargain. No matter how nice the other person is and no matter how willing to cooperate, get the police involved. We did and when she was getting hesitant to pay up, we had a leg to stand on.

Good luck Nicole. it sucks but it will get taken care of!

did you call the cops? I hope so... even a fender bender needs a police report. if you have collision, get it fixed and your insurance goes after hers, that's how it works.

well most insurance companies don't necessarily go by the police report unless a police Officer witnessed the accident.
