How do you make YOUR home smell good?
I'm looking for some new scents. I usually do Yankee Candles but with a dog and a baby on the way I'd like to use some alternatives to open flames. Suggestions?

Glade Glass Secrets - they work really well to keep cooking and smoking odor down.

Re: How do you make YOUR home smell good?
Personally, we stay away from the outlet scent things, especially after someone, I think Suven, posted about a woman at her job and a serious accident. Not that a flame is any better, but we can control it per se. We'll put candles on the stove or in the sink or even in the bathtub. I feel that those are the least flammable of locations. I also love the little tea light and oil warmer, but you need to make sure that there is always water in the well. Personally, the aerosoles kill my nose, so I stay away from those. But even simmering a pot of potpouri or simmering spices on the stove can add a nice scent to the air. My grandmother used to boil a pot of water (on low, so it was simmering) and fill it with a handful of cloves. Cheap and it smelled awesome!

I agree, after Suven posted that story I stopped using plug ins ... there are so many other ways to make the house smell nice, it's not worth the risk of starting a fire with plug ins.

Re: How do you make YOUR home smell good?
you know what smells REALLY good - when you boil cinnamon sticks!!!
Obviously that's not an ongoing perpetual type thing, but for special times when you really want your home to smell good, it's awesome!

Re: How do you make YOUR home smell good?
just get a strong scented candle. keep it lit for an hour, and after that it just lingers. I just picked one up from bath and body. its a spice scented one (kinda like a peppermint cinammon) the scent has been lingering around since xmas still... and otherwise i just use Febreze.

I also buy Potpourri sachet's and place them around. I bought 2 evergreen scented ones and put them around the den where my tree was and everyone thought it was a real tree when they first walked in

What is the story about plug ins. I use those.
Also DO NOT PUT CANDLES IN YOUR BATHTUB. IT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.

Ditto!
we started using a candle warmer. i think it actually fills the room much more than when you just light the candle

Re: How do you make YOUR home smell good?
I, too, became hesitant to use anything that goes into an outlet after Suven's co-worker's tragedy.
I did get a tart burner at Yankee Candle and it does a great job. Maybe you might feel safer with a little tea light that's mostly contained?

I bought a linen spray from BBB - it smells so pretty and a few times a week I spray it on the couch and chairs and in the bedroom.

Re: How do you make YOUR home smell good?
I use the Yankee wax tarts and what ever scent I use it fills up the house. I will also use that foam stuff you spray on the carpeting but i also spray them on the couch.
