Re: black or silver need help!! edited w pic
we just bought the silver grand cherokee - but it was a 2006 model - not a 2007, in silver --- and it was a 65th anniversary edition.... if they have them look at them - they were the same price as the lower model ---- but had a gabillion extra features like the upgraded one.... 5 cd changer in dash - all chrome accents on everything (looks so much nicer - with the chrome strip - rather than the black one... i wish i had a pic on here - but i dont!
all the accents are in the chrome silver - rather than the black that kinda stands out when it is that way --- it also had the roof kit and some tow kit that made dh excited ... i a diff better moonroof.... some more stuff but i dont remember it all...

If you are the type to clean your car a lot go with the black. If not go with the silver. Black looks HORRIBLE if it's dirty. Silver never looks dirty, unless it;s REALLY dirty.

Take it from me - I am a professional car detailer. I have been in the business since 1988, and I would never buy a black car. I have to say that silver is a much better way to go, especially since it always looks clean, it hides scratches, and dings, and it isnt a pain to wash and wax it. You wont see haze on the paint, or swirl marks that you usually get from the car wash.
Black is beautiful when it is clean, but when it is dirty, or there are light scratches or door dings, you will see everything. To get the car all shiny again, you will have to do a lot more than just wash it, and forget about going to automated car washes, that is the worst thing for the paint, and on a darker colored car you can tell more of the damage that the automated car washes can do to the paint.
For a black car, you need to wash it weekly, and glaze and wax it 2 times a month, to keep the paint in great shape. When you wash it, I mean to wash it by hand.
The glaze removes the swirls, and light scratches, and it also brings out the gloss in the paint.
I know most of you that own black cars do not do anything that I am mentioning above, and you probably think I am crazy. Even though I have not owned a black car, I have cleaned to many of them in my lifetime, from fords, to Porsche's. All black paint is the same. If you dont have the time or the energy to devote to it, it is not going to look as good as it does when you first get it or have it detailed.
Basically, I would go with a lighter color.....And if Silver is the color you can get, I would go with that. Scott
Can you come over and glaze and wax my black car? Please???
