Invest in some orange cones - we had to do this at my parents house last year! Some jerk kept parking right in front of our house....so we put orange cones all along the curb for about a week....they got the idea. 
This would actually aggrevate me more than people parking in front of my own house. 
Its one thing to get ****** of someone parks in front of your house. But to see somebody "mark their territory" with cones... I would look to piss them off even if I had no intention of parking there.
Be carefull... you might get some vindictive person out there to either steal the cones... or just plow them down with their 4x4.

I know Ozone park in Queens is like "Home of the Garbage Pails in the streets" My grandparents lived there and there were always pails in the street.. I HATED it. I live in Glendale and I think If I were to put a pail in the street I'd come out to a broken windshield
The folk ova here don't really go for that

well OUR cones were "borrowed" from the town - they were marked with the town seal. 
People have some nerve though.

Like you said Kristin, I don't believe in people "owning" the street in front of their house, but it would bother me if someone consistently parked there. We had that happen a bunch of times at my parents house on Staten Island, and it drove us nuts. Similarly, it drove me nuts when I would park in front of my neighbor's and the second I would leave, they would rush to move their car there (even if it was only 1 house away), so that I couldn't part there again

This post cracks me up. When DH and I started dating, I told him not to park in front of our neighbors house, since my landlord had asked me not to do that as a courtesey to the neighbor, who were friends. I lived on LI. When DH would come over, he was so annoyed when I wouldn't let him park there - he is from Queens. His response was "they don't own the street." When we related this ongoing debate to his friend, who also lives in the suburbs, her response was "for the amount of taxes that I pay, as far as I am concerned, that small part of the street in front of my house is MINE!"
I would find it annoying too. My parents used to have neighbors who would never park in the driveway, so they wouldn't drip oil on the concrete.

Wierd, sounds like to me they dont want people to know where they live, like which house is theirs. Maybe they ****** off someone in the past and if the person drives up and down the block and sees the car that maybe cut them off, they wouldnt know which house is theirs. Just thinking of any possibilities. I had a neighbor that would do that so what I did was park my car in front of them, blocking my driveway but my back bumper was real close to thier car as to say dont park here. they finally got the hint and now park not in front of their house but to the side of their house now. It was very annoying and frustrating. they never parked in their driveway and they have 3 cars in the street. I just dont get why someone would park in front of someone elses house when their is plenty of parking on the street and they have a driveway? I would be annoyed too Kristin. GL!
