even by showing ID, what does that accomplish? only kids have meth labs?
By showing ID they put in your DL# and can track the adults who might be running a meth lab. I don't think the government should control everything. However, if someone who was in my neighborhood was buying 30-40 packs of claritin or something else that can be used for a meth lab, I would pray that the DEA would shut them down. God forbid their house blew up and it was the house next to mine. I am sorry I did not work my a$$ off to purchase a home and live next to a meth lab or a drug dealer. JMO, but I hope they catch all of these sick people who have meth labs in their home and put them all in jail. They threaten the lives of the people living around them.

Re: Looking for thoughts
I think it's great that they are tracking the use of all drugs. My friend is going through a horrible divorce from her husband who is addicted to prescription (and some OTC) drugs. I hope they are not just tracking kids - I hope it applies to everyone. IMO prescription administrating is too lax right now.

wow... soon they'll ask you for IDs when you want to buy markers or glue
if it saves lives why not
a lot of things saves lives, so everything should be controlled by the government? I don't agree with that. (this has nothing to do with Claritin, just your comment)
even by showing ID, what does that accomplish? only kids have meth labs?
ETA: apparently I can't spell
Yes that is true but imo i could care less who knows how much claritin I buy if there is a reason for it., that is for a greater good

But I think there comes a point where one has to take a little personal responsibility.

Re: Looking for thoughts
I usually see things like this being invasive, but honestly, if tracking my use of cold and allergy medicine will help stop the building of meth labs, I have no problem with it.

I have no problems with cold meds but markers and glue might be a bit much. I'm a teacher and I buy that stuff in bulk. I just hope it doesn't come to that.

I jsut searched online for the signs and almost every site listed:
A strong smell that might resemble urine, or an unusual chemical smell like ether, ammonia or acetone. (or wording to that effect)

I was in Target and picking up some Claritin D. It's no longer ont he shelf and you have to take the card to the pharmacist...this is not new nad I get it. But now the pharmacist requests a license and plugs my number into the computer so that the state can keep track of my purchasing of this product. I just don't know how to feel about that.
i think it is a good idea actually

Re: Looking for thoughts
I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I mean I understand they're trying to prevent substance abuse and it's more fair to just card everybody, but I don't know. Even though it's not exact, it reminds me of last year when I was carded for buying eggs on Halloween. Umm...I have my son with me...you really think I'm going to go egg some Trick or Treaters?

I agree.... They can ID me all they want- it dosent hurt me, and I dont have to go out of my way to show it....
If its gonna help just save maybe one life.... thats fine by me!!!
Im all for this esp. having a younger brother who is one of those stupid kids who abuse OTC products
I also agree- it dosent matter how old you are....while it is more common in kids.... adults do it as well!

this is rediculous, do they have serial numbers on each one of those eggs? otherwise how are you going to track which egg hit which house?
I don't mind turning loosing cell phone reception in holland tunnel to prevent terrorism, or my bags checked at penn station... but being carded for buying allergies meds and EGGS??
