I agree mom def. should not have been allowing her 5 yr old to wander around, and then pet a strange dog.....
This just goes to show NO ANIMAL can be trusted, I dont care how well trained! (even a little chiwawa)
Ill never forget when I was a little my mom dad and one brother were walking towards our car in the drive way, getting ready to go to breakfast.....In the street was a man walking his doberman pincher...
My brother who was about 3yrs old yelled "hi doggy" and the dog broke free and attacked us...my mom through us in the house and got her self in, but unfortunately my dad didnt make it in.... Him and the dog battled it out, and luckily my dad was fine...
That owner said the same thing... "he is very well trained, he never does this" Yea well he never DID that....
My mom has a dog and my son is not allowed anywhere NEAR HIM... The dog is locked on one side of the house and my son on the other....
I thought about getting a dog, but have totally decided you just never know what your gonna get....as for now when I have a small child and plan to have other small children...there will be no animals in my home....A childs innocence can cause the sweetest dog to be vicious and maybe even take the childs life!

I know I am going to totally get bashed for this one, but I have to say it...
There is a sign at Petco saying "Pet's Welcome", not only do they do this so people can bring their pets in for the h*ll of it but they do grooming there and also if you are buying your dog a collar, coat, crate, etc. you can size the animal. I don't know how many dog owners will agree with me, but there have been a few times I bought something and it didn't fit when I got it home. I shop at Petco cuz I can bring the dog there. If you don't like the dog's, as one poster said, you can not shop there.

I agree- if I owned dog who I feared would be aggressive, I would not take him into Petco. There are freak incidents but you also have to know your dog. My mom always leaves one of her dogs home because even though she would never hurt one of us she is funny around strangers.
