Going to the doctor - UPDATED AT BOTTOM WITH DOCTOR INFO

Well ladies, as you know, I'm at CD 56 and no AF and all BFNs.

To add to my situation, when we BD last night I had a lot of pain in my left side (if TMI I apologize).

This morning it is still there, pain and tenderness where I imagine my left ovary is. I'm hoping it's nothing serious, but I just called the doctor and they are going to try to get me in for an ultrasound tomorrow.

I'm waiting for them to call back, but I'm also running a training class today, so I can only check my messages again in about 2 hours so I'm stuck in limbo.

I don't know how I'm going to make it through this class.

I need hugs.... Chat Icon

Oh Lauren I am so sorry you are having so many problems this cycle Chat Icon

I don't want to play doctor here, but maybe its a cyst that is causing the pain? Or just crampiness that is really severe? I know, no help I am

How frustrating! I'm glad you called the doctor as a precautionary measure and that they are going to do an U/S just to be safe. Best of luck to you! BABY DUST! Chat Icon

Re: Going to the doctor

Thanks girls.

Update - the doctors office called me back at 1:55 to tell me they were closing at 2:00 so please call back tomorrow. Chat Icon

What is it with these doctors not understanding how important this is to us!!??!!??

So they open at 10:00 today and I'll be calling them exactly then.

The nurse I spoke too said the same thing as a couple of you - it sounds like a cyst. Here's hoping it's nothing and/or if it's a cyst they can just diagnose me and get me started on something to help.

I'll keep you update. Thanks for the hugs. I really needed them.

OH Lauren that S UCKS!! I have grown to HATE DOCTORS lately, can I just scream that out now , for the record? Because it truly FRUSTRATES me how they don't take our concerns and problems seriously sometimes!! Chat Icon

I hope that you got some answers when you called back this AM and that it turns out to be a cyst , which is usually treatable and nothing serious on a whole Perhaps they'll ask you to come in for a sono to check your ovaries

GOOD LUCK, thinking of you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Going to the doctor

Update #2:

Called the doctor's office at exactly 10:00. The person I needed to speak to wasn't there yet - they told me to call back in 15 minutes.

Called back at 10:15, she still wasn't there - they told me to call back in a couple of minutes.

Called back at 10:36, she still wasn't there yet, I explained to someone who I was and asked to be helped by someone else since the woman still wasn't there. They said they would take my information and have her call me at work.

At 11:32 someone else from the office called and said that the soonest they could get me in was June 20th. JUNE 20th!! Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME??? Chat Icon Chat Icon

So I said "No sooner? I'm in pain now." They said "She just doesn't have any other space to give you". So I said, "You never make exceptions for a situation like this?" and she put the other woman on the phone - didn't even ask me to hold, just gave the phone to the other woman.

So now I'm searching for a new doctor and trying to figure out what to do. I kept the June 20th appointment just in case, but I don't want to go to a doctor that can't get me in for 3 weeks when I have an obvious issue!!!

Ugh. And I'm at work now and all upset and trying not to cry in my office and I can't leave until 3:00 because I have a meeting I can't miss.

This S UCKS!!

I would def. try to find a new doctor...one that is a little more understanding of pain.
I am so sorry you are going through this.

i dont know if this will help with self diagnosis or not...but when I had my cyst, my cerix was EXTREMLY tendor...try checking yours and see..

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

Arghhh.... some nurse assistants just don't understand the severity of things sometimes. They're just out thinking about space & appts and don't think twice to actually ask the DOCTOR what they should tell you. Do you not have the doctor's cell phone or pager #?

If anything, being in your position, I'd probably go to the hospital. It might not seem like a huge deal, because you're feeling some pain, but I'd be worried that something else is going on, and I wouldn't want to think "damn, if only I hadn't waited", ya know?

ETA: Don't mean to worry you.

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this and I'm very suprised that they don't keep time blocked for emergencies...

My old Gyno took me in and I had some kind of yeast infection (sorry if TMI)

if you're in the city why don't you try Murray Hill OB-GYn, the number is 212-447-5330, they are at 150 E. 32nd St

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

What about your Primary care Dr? Do you have one?

I know occasionaly I will speak to mine about gyn issues, shes pretty up to date on a lot of stuff.

I would think they could get you in sooner, AND be able to do things like blood tests, and Sono if needed. Mine does Pelvic exams as needed as well.

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

WOW... that's seriously negligent of the office. Considering the amount of pain your in, I would absolutely go to the ER. Even if it turns out to be nothing, better to be safe than sorry in case it turns out to be something serious. I'm amazed they don't fit people in for emergencies... I remember when I had a simple bacterial infection they had me come in that day. After this, I would seriously consider getting a new ob/gyn!

My only other advice is to call your Dr. directly - I know with my office, they close after 5pm, but after 5pm I can then page the Dr. and speak to them directly. Is there anyway you can do that?

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

Lauren , this is just unacceptable Chat Icon

Seriously if the pain continues and you cannot find a new doctor that will see you before June 20th, I would perhaps say just go to the ER. Plenty of women have to go to the ER when they have cysts that are really painful (if this is a cyst) .. They'll at least do a sono there and an exam. It could be ANYTHING or nothing, I dont mean to alarm you eitehr but for peace of mind don't push it off until next week.

I hate to say that unless you URGE your gyno that you need to be seen as an emergency appointment, NONE of these nurses are willing to bend and fit you in! Its like you sometimes have to act like a beatch before they'll take you seriously!

I feel for you, please hang in there. Even as Donna said, worst case scenario perhaps you'd have more luck seeing your internist of general practitioner (I've seen mine for a variety of issues and they are often helpful)

GOOD LUCK!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Going to the doctor - UPDATED I HATE DOCTORS!!

WTH is wrong with them? YES switch doctors. This is an emergency appointment, they should have taken you in TODAY.

I agree with Felicia, go to the ER. We had to bring my sister there with her ovarian cysts. Granted everything takes a little longer in the ER but at least you'll get medical attention right away.

If it IS a cyst, it can be dangerous (not to scare you) but my sister's ruptured and were bleeding - which can require surgery if it's really bad. My sister was in so much pain she couldn't sit up without passing out.

Granted this was coming on - she was in pain for a couple of days before it got to this point - but it was really bad. I would go get yourself checked out when you leave work today.
