Re: So this is DH's new car...

Its a DEMO car- she had written before he started to work at a Mercedes dealership like 2 months ago.

A Demo car can be taken away at any time- and godforbid it gets broken into or in an accident he is up sh*ts creek bigtime- they come after HIM NOT the dealership!!!!!!!

I know this- I used to work in a car dealership while I was in college.

A demo car is used so that you can advertise the place you work for- also they do NOT give you NEW cars- they give you OLDer models to drive in- especially if you are new!!!!!!

then when you go into a dealership sometimes you can purchase the demo car depending on the mileage but I would NEVER cause the guys beat on the cars ( driving wise)

Its def a nice car, but not wise to sell YOUR own vehicle to drive a DEMO, especially NOW- ALL dealerships are hurtin for business and they could blow you out of there so freaking fast- in 2 years- I saw omgosh over 40 salesmen and about 8 managers change- if they dont like your performance and youre not selling- enough youre out of there!!!!!!
If you are in with the owners then sometimes you have a leg to stand on but otherwise you dont! GL!

( they were selling their chevy due to getting a demo ) and ANYONE can get a Demo car after 2 to 3 months of employment. so if you wanna sell cars, you can get one too!!!!!

Well, apparently...you didn't work for THIS dealership, and all dealerships are different! Personally, I am alittle offended by the tone of your reply.

FIRST of all, my DH has a 2006 Mercedes ...yes, 2006 (it had 4 miles on it when he got it). So, that's the first place that you're wrong.

Secondly, this is a high class dealership, not your run of the mill (which it sounds like you may have worked at). Most of their salesmen have been there for 10 or more years. My husband was one of 26 applicants for this position, and went on 6 (yes, 6!!!) interviews for this position.

And lastly, a company car, or demo, is taken away at ANY job if you are no longer there...which is why I said in my first post that it was a COMPANY car!! This car, or another Mercedes, is his for as long as he works there.

So again...this was obviously not the dealership that you were working at, nor is it your "average" car dealership.

ETA: I am honored that you took all of your time to write such lovely things. Apparently all of the people sending me FM's about you thought it was pretty nice as wellChat Icon

Sorry to disappoint you but I did not work in a run of the mill dealership- ha little you know-
Be careful what you say- and I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT, here I'll give you some names for your husband to throw around, Morro, Stoloupi, Caruso's- ( who owns just about the whole island dealerships - ) thats just a few, I can name more, my uncle is 1 of them, so be careful. Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover, Porsche- are all "expensive" cars yes, high profile dealership- define that. and you bet your sweet a$$ they put those guys/girls to the test- before hiring them, 6 interviews is the norm- nothing special. This is not a personal attack, however it seems like you made it one. and like you said he will have his DEMO car they call it not a COMPANY car, till he works theres, like I said, SALESMEN dont have a SECURE JOB- If you are an owner or in MANAGEMENT then you do- even the FINANCE positions arent secure- you have to be there yes thats right 10 yrs plus- but you have to make it and PROVE yourself beyond belief.
If you think this is an easy job for your DH trust me it is NOT. Very stressful and long hours. I wish him all the luck! Hey if he does good, others will benefit from it- Chat Icon

First of all, I have never, EVER said this was an easy job, so I'm not too sure where you're pulling that one from...however as far as the stress and hours go, peice of cake compared to what he's used to.

I'm not one to throw names around, I don't really feel like I need to do that, so your "names" do not impress me at all.

And this comment..."ha little you know"...how old are we???

How old am I? Gee, go back and reread your edit- how old are we? and your people are FMing me about you dont impress me at all.

and like I said before, good luck to him and I hope he does well!

forgot to add, the names will impress the industry when your DH mentions them- so youre right they have NO meaning for you its all for HIM! Trust me on that one.

omg, This girl has to be at most 16, I have not heard such a jealous tone about a car since I was in High School!! Regardless, enjoy the car, it is beautiful!

BTW- WOW! you know lots of names of owners of car dealerships, that makes you a powerful person? I know all those names too and they would be embarrassed if they knew that their names were being thrown around on this site, especially with such an obnoxious tone. Embarrassed, absolutely NOT- Im Happy you know of them!!!! and they would NOT be embarrassed either. Dropping a name is good for business- whether you like them or not youre most likely buying/leasing a car from them. and knowing that you and probably many more know of the names is a pure good thing.

No I am not jealous. I own a luxury car, and really who cares, its just a car.
My point is there is NO reason to come on here and POST and flaunt a "company" car- Im sure there are many on here that have company cars and dont post it- Hey heres a question, if your company gave you a hugo would you post it? prob not, point in case.

You know what, if my company gave me a great car to drive, I would be excited too. She's not trying to "flaunt" it, she was just trying to share her excitement. Isn't that what we all do here? Share things. We share the good, the bad and the ugly. If I posted that I was pregnant, would you say I was "flaunting" it to those of you who may not be?

No absolutely not, I wouldnt say that about a pregnancy or anything else for that matter - when its presented the right way. so many were asking questions and she didnt reply to them- only but mine, Chat Icon . I just dont think it was right. I am excited for her, sounds like her DH is headed in the right direction, working for a good company.
