great thread i am WELL endowed on top & wonder how much MORE will i be blessed
mjc - Thanks for the welcome! I know there is an increased risk of gestational(sp?) diabeties if you are overweight. Even though I am plus sized, I am generally a very healthy eater.
LadyPrincess - I think about that all the time!! How much bigger will my already DD's get????
YUP !!! at least we can console each other... if we can get around them
I have those same thoughts. And to be honest, it's scared me thinking that they will get a lot bigger. Where will I put them?

Re: Plus Size and TTC
I just went to the doctor last night and talked about TTC. She said that it would be great if I lost weigt, but it's not a necessity.
I was plus size b4 the wedding, but i have definitely packed on more since then!
Anyone afraid that when you do get pregnant that you will not look pregnant, just fatter?
And where the heck do I buy clothes when it happens....argh...why cant you lose weight as fast as you gain it?!?

Re: Plus Size and TTC
Hey Ladies
I'm in that "older" bracket...will be 35 in December.
A good friend of mine was plus size when she had her baby and in the end she did look pregnant, but for most of her pregnancy she just wore her normal clothes and then went up a size at Lane Bryant/Avenue as she grew. In a way, that's a good thing because its easier than finding plus size maternity clothes that aren't totally frumpy.
We'll all get to share and learn from each others experiences.
=)

Re: Plus Size and TTC
Piece of advice for all of you who are thinking about starting to TTC. Start taking those prenatal vitamins early! My doctor had me start 3 months before we planned to start. He said they are the best vitamins for the human body and they get your body ready.

I think it is true more often than not, but everyone is different. I know someone who gained 45lbs and she was plus sized.
My doctor told me that I probably wouldn't gain more than 20lbs. I gained 15lbs during my pg, most of it during the 7-8th month.

Re: Plus Size and TTC
I think its partially true...in part because doctor's would prefer that we not gain as much since we already carry it. It's just important that we eat healthy...lots of protein, calcium, veggies, fruits, etc.

I love this thread. I'm plus sized and have been TTC since December. Plus I have PCOS which isn't making things any easier, but we keep hoping.
Just to let you all know Lane Bryant actaully has a small selection of maternity clothes now. IIf you go onto theri catalog website it's available there. I think it's LaneBryantcatalog.com or something like that. Also I was in Target last week and there was some plus sized maternity in there as well.
Good Luck to all of you!

Re: Plus Size and TTC
I am no longer TTC, but I was plus size prior to my BFP (14/16 pre pregnancy) so do you mind if I chime in?
I was also worried that TTC would take me a while because of my weight. When I mentioned to my OBGYN that I would be TTC, he did not say anything about my weight at all. And, I got my BFP on the first month of trying.
When I went back with my BFP, he said that he would like for me to gain 20-25 lbs. I am now +20 lbs at 21+weeks . He is not concerned because I see a nutritionist every other week and am trying as hard as I can to not gain too much but still make sure I eat enough for me and for baby.
I definately look pg. this was one of my concerns that I would just look bigger, but that is definately not the case. But don't forget, everyone carries differently. Although we all know that loosing weight is the healthy thing to do, we also all know how difficult it is to loose weight. My advice, and I certainly am no Dr. is to NOT wait to start a family because you are Plus Size. Everyone is different and you can definately have a healthy pregnancy. I will say, it is not easy because I'm sure a lot of my swelling and all that is due to the fact that I weighed a lot to begin with and now with the additional 20, but you know what...everyone swells, everyone has aches and pains during pregnancy. Even thin people!
Good luck ladies and lots of
ETS: To answer BackInNewYork's question, JCPenney, Old Navy, Motherhood...lots of places sell Plus Size maternity clothes...so don't worry about that
ETS Again: I was also pretty well endowed to begin with, and I only went up one cup size so far...so that's not too bad.

Does it even make sense to lose weight before TTC?
I just saw my 6 month pregnant friend who is plus sized and lost weight.
My moms friend is very plus sized and she only gained 6 pounds during her pregnancy! Her baby is a perfectly healthy 2 month old.
This is a great thread ladies! I look forward to reading everyones experiences!
