what kind of flooring do you have in your finished basement
I'm definitely doing carpet on most of it, however we have a door that opens to the outside, a bar and a bathroom - so I was thinking of tiling the area from the door to the bar area and bathroom (its all in a row) , but I HATE cleaning tile and grout. Are there any alternatives?
I envision the kids coming in from outside to use the bathroom. So I don't want carpet on that area. The bar is on the way to the bathroom and I envision drunk men watching football and spilling beer and drinks. So I don't want the spilling to happen on the carpet.
So am I stuck with tile? what else works in a basement?

Berber carpet and then tile from the garage door to the stairs as a walkway.

Our entire basement is tiled and we have an area rug where we sit and hang out. You could possibly do that - tile and get some area rugs?
We've been using a steam mop to clean the tile and so far, so good...but then again, our basement doesn't see as much traffic as yours. Good luck!

I have laminate flooring; my basement is very dry so I went for it. I like the way it looks.

We have some carpet and some fully floating vinyl tiles that look like wood. We got them at Home Depot. They stick to each other, not the floor so its better for a basement.

Ditto, I like having the carpet because it seems a lot warmer.

we have carpet in the TV couch side and the other side that has bathroom, bar and office with laminate.
