What kind of floors for the kitchen?
We have wood floors throughout the living room and dining room, but I am not so hot for wood kitchen floors.
Other than wood or ceramic tile, what options are out there?
And not linoleum!!!!!

IJUST did slate in my bathroom!!! Floors and shower walls. I think, even though I love it, slate in the kitchen might be overkill. But I'll keep it on the back burner....

Cork is supposed to be really environmentally friendly...some of it's really pretty too.
Any other natural stone is nice too - limestone (though, probably stains easy), tumbled marble.

I just did my entire 1st floor(including LR&kitchen) in travetine.
I LOVE it. I was a little scared that the LR might look cold-but I put down an area rug& its beautiful.

My SIL has travertine in her master bathroom. I think that kind of tile would be beautiful.

cork, bamboo, marble, laminate
We were going to do cork, but the previous owners left a sh!tload of wood flooring, so we used it. I wanted to be environmentally friendly, I thought that throwing away all that wood would be less environmentally friendly than using the cork....
