What kind of flowers should be planted NOW?
I'm looking for both annuals and perennials...any ideas? My tulips, hydrangea and hyacinths have bloomed SO nicely from last year : )

Tulips and hyacinths are both bulbs. You should plant them in the fall if you want more.
I would wait a couple of more weeks to plant your annuals--the general rule of thumb is Mother's Day. I'll be planting mine around then. Can't wait! It's amazing what a few impatients can do to brighten up a yard.

Just make sure you get the stuff for the amount of sun in the area you're planting. A lot of the flowers mentioned are full sun so if you have partial shade you wouldn't want to plant them.

I am going to hijack this thread with a question because I do not have a green thumb at all...
If I plant Tulip bulbs in the fall and they come up in the spring will they come up every year? If so, doesn't that also mean that I can't plant other flowers in the same location as the bulbs?

Tulips are perennials so they'll come up every year For this year, you can plan annuals and then in the fall the perennials for Spring 2011.

But what about when spring is over and the tulips and like flowers have bloomed and died....can I plant annuals in the same location as the bulbs? Will that distrub the bulbs?

They just stay green stems (well not the stem, but the green bottom), just no flowers so you can't plant over them.
