What kind of shoes do you get your kids?

Ever since the boys started cruising we have gotten then stride rite shoes. We went today to get them sneakers and boots and they had no boots that DH liked. He wanted to get them work boots and the only ones I can find are Timberland's, since we need a wide shoe. I am torn, I just don't know if we should really stick to stride rite's or get the Timberland's.

I bought a pair of $35 Stride Rite shoes and I am just has happy (if not happier price-wise) with the Target shoes that are $10-$12. I find that they have the same cut shoes and much cuter styles.

I buy pretty much any and all shoes for my boys, but never anything poorly made or flimsy. That's my only rule. Timberland makes GREAT boots. My boys have had several pairs. I say go for it!

FTR, my favorite brand is Primigi.Chat Icon

Does Timberland come in W? If so, why not go with the one you like best.

I pretty much go with whatever is cheaper - after their first pair (which was striderite) I didn't want to have to spend $50 plus dollars on shoes that they only wear what seems like a couple of weeks!

DD needs wide width so hers end up being pricier - but DS can wear whatever.

I will say this - it all depends on your child's foot and you really do have to be mindful of their individual needs. Style is fantastic, but if it's a poor fit, the "look" is a waste of money, IMO.

I have tried many brands and always come back to Stride Rite b/c my son has an *extremely* narrow foot - and it is VERY difficult to find well-fitting comfortable shoes for him anywhere else. I have purchased some European-made boots for him at Daffy's recently, and those seem to have worked out. But for everyday shoes, I pretty much stick to SR.

For Elena, her foot is not as narrow, and she can comfortably fit into many brands and styles...so, she's already a shoe diva!Chat Icon

DS has a wide foot also. I have bought shoes from Stride rite and payless. If you like the Timberlands I would buy them.

I don't know how they run for children, but I have a wider foot because of bunions (which at some point in my life I will have taken care of), but I must say... I have Timberlands, and they fit my wider foot very well. They never squish my foot, and I always feel comfortable!

I have both kids with XW feet so to play it safe for comfort I stick with Stride Rite..

They said he is border line XW, so it depends on the shoe. DH really wants to get them the work boots since he thinks they will keep their feet warm and he doesn't like the look of the hiking type boots I was looking at. The ones I was looking at were 40 at Stride Rite, and the ones he wants to get are 50 so it is not really much of a difference.

Good to know that Timb's run a bit wide though.
